Water is still too cheap coming from Malaysia so SIngapore might as well buy until the last drop of water up till the last day on the agreement. It was a good thing in the past when Malaysia started to threaten cutting off water supply or esle today Singaporeans would be scratching their heads over what to drink in the future.
In fact, we help them to filter and clean their water, then send this clean water back to them and keep some for our use. We do charge malaysia for the cleaning part, so i guess we are making surplus now instead of losing.
I admired Singapore govt ability to solve problem that most will never think off, water is one example, most countries would had written singapore off if malaysia just off the tap to supply water to us, but we turn around with our technologies and produced our own water to counter it, brilliant.

Should anyone doubt the ability of a Taiwanese 'hum' to be able to filter and clean the sea bed from all the grub ?
The intelligence of a Taiwanese 'hum' begin and end at its ‘Labia Majora’ and ‘Labia Minora’ - which help in its indulgence to enjoy in rapturous idiocy - and to neglect to check the facts that Johor has started its own water treatment and no longer buy any filtered water from Singapore.
Can anything of any substance flow from its hopeless brain that is no bigger then the size of its ‘clitoris’ ?
Uncle, be a bit open lah, not all govt initiatives are bad, some are very good, like the ability to make our own water is indeed genius. Clap clap clap...

Water is not made by the PAP government - it is created by God.
The technologies for cleaning the water is from overseas - and the PAP government will pass the cost onto Singaporeans with a huge mark-up to drain our wallets too.

Created by God or not is not the issue, that is beyong our knowledge, but the ability to turn around and tell malaysia off is something we could not had done in the last century.
In Ancient time, during drought period, kings and peoples pray for rain from the sky God, but most still go unanswered, for us, we dun ask God, because God said, I have given u light, water and land, ... Go go, go find your own life and food.

We can say good bye to MY water. But will never say. Becos it is SG's right!
I have shown my confidence on SG water policy few years ago in this
forum. With the completion of Punggol and Serangoon Reservoirs and
the deslination of these 2 reservoirs with 3 years, SG local catchment can
provide minimum 70 % of local demand.
Cathment of Marina Reservoir is 100 km2 and the above 2 reservoirs are
50 km2. This will increase catchment fr half to two third of SG land.
Before Tuas desliantion plant and NEWater, half of SG water demand
came fr MY.
Let us review how much SG achieve--
desalination plant ----abt 135,000 m3--or 10% of SG demand few years ago.
NEWater ----30 % of SG demand few years ago.
new catchment---my guess is 20 % of SG demand few years ago.
(66--50%=16% point of SG water demand,
but most of 150 km2 new catchment is highly urbanised areas)
The above, total 60 % points, is already almost can off set MY water!!

how much water MY sell to sg every day?

Is this supposed to be a U-Turn that can be believed ?
Stop deluding yourself !!!
A pussy will always be a pussy - no matter how noisy it attempts to be.
I forget to add the increase yield of water collected fr intergration of reservoirs.
I remember it is 8 % .

Obviously you were not even an nano-sized atom when Singapore suffered its worst drought in decades that required water rationing, and long lines with buckets and pails to collect water from distribution water trucks.
With the unpredictable weather afflicting earth, it will be better for a noisy pussy to plug itself and not display itself in some jingoistic public display that can easily be a pussy disease that spread so quickly.

and hi Atobe, tx for remind the water rationing in SG.
1.When was the last time SG water rationing? few decades ago.
Tx for MY still sell water to SG.
2.Size of water catchment does not matter. Wat matter is management with
heart,
Do u guys know Melbourne has been suffering from
Melbourne Water Restrictions for some time?
Ha? With a catchmnent more than 4,000 km sq ,ie,
few time as big as Singapore, u will never
imagine that Mel would suffer from water shortage. But It is.
u will tell me the rain fall there is much less than SG.
u are right. Or the global warming and El Nino make less
rainfall.
I would say, it is partly due to poor water management.
rainfall is dropping year by year in Mel!

I am surprised that you did make a U-Turn.
Did you read my first response to your thread on Page 1 - 14 March 2010 10.33AM ?
In my response, I had posted the following opening lines, with an attached report on "Water Management" and ended with a report on "Water Demand Management".
Is having all the infrastructure alone enough to keep Singapore secure ?
Or is the article below even more relevant for Singapore that - "Putting the infrastructure in place alone is not sufficient to secure Singapore’s water supplies. Demand management is also imperative for sustainability." ?
Water Management : Learning from Singapore’s water success
See also the report prepared by PUB - ‘Singapore’s Experience in Water Demand Management’
Even if water rationing had happened a few decades ago - can a noisy pussy make a prediction or give a guarantee that it will not happen again some time in the future ?
Whatever the case maybe - Singapore has not reach a water generating capacity to be totally self-sufficient - now or any time into the future, especially in the manner that this PAP Government is determined to expand the population size over the decades.
It is simply the typical noisy pussy type of jingoistic pride that will hurt Singapore's interests by thumbing its nose at our northern neighbor - whom many Singaporeans still have family ties, and with the younger generation inter-marrying across age and racial groups.

Too many SG people just ignorane of SG water achievement
I am here not to show off to the northern neighbour.
Too many sg pple just think sg is still VERY rely on MY water.
currently,Less than 40% of potable water come from MY.
In fact, the more souce SG has in water, the more restraint actions by SG
if there is any water supply disruption from the north.
Less dependent on import water is certanly a good thing in bilateral tie.
Wat do u want to say?
I still cant make out the purpose of you posting the presentations slides
abt SG water demand magt. This is a clearly achiement in first world country-
lowest domestic water consumption per capita in the world and
one of lowest, if not the lowest, NON REVENUE WATER--NRW,
or as shown in the last page there,Fig. 3.
SG is abt 5 %, much lower than HK, Oz major cites abt 30 %!!
2.water rationing in SG in the future
If this happen caused by very low rainfall,
then this planet is not suitable for human being.
The enlarged catchment is expected to provide abt 70 % of local demand.
The capcaity of SG reservoirs in Johor is huge. Johor
is suffering from drought in the past few months which needs cloud
seeding from last week. The chance of rationing in SG in the future
is very remote.
3.Desalination and NEWater can solve all threats in few years
With low capital and operating expenses, both of the above are back up
plans to solve water shortage.
The Tuas deslination plant, which is now owned by City Spring ,
was built at S$250 million few years .The max output is abt 135,000 m3,
more than 10 % of local potable water sales at 1.26 million
m3 in 2008.(1)
NEWater is now selling at S$1 per m3,cheaper than tap water!!
So,With plenty of land(20 km2 in Tuas and 20 km2 in Changi),(3)
huge capitals fr Temasek/ GIC, technology,
man power and material(sewage and sea water!!),
SG can be 100 self sufficient in few years time,if she choose to do so!
But why should SG do all these politically incorrect things?
We have time under the sun to fine tune the water technology.
4. SG water catchment will be enlarged to 90 % soon
PUB has developed a new water treatment technique by integrating desalination and NEWater treatment processes to treat feedwater of varying salinity to potable water. This technology has potential to increase the water catchment area in Singapore from 67% to 90% by treating freshwater and seawater cost-effectively in the same plant. The plant is able to operate as a seawater desalination plant but incorporates the flexibility to automatically switch to treatment of freshwater at a much higher output without stopping production.
For example,a pilot plant of Variable Salinity Plant (VSP)with a capacity of SG
3 % potable water sale was built in 2007.(2)
Have u heard PUB scarp a project after they build a pilot plant?
U are invited to see the numberous RD projects in PUB.
Remember there are many more in NUS, NTU !!

Uncle Lion, i know u are good,..but please do not agitate my Uncle Atobe further, just let him wins, he is old already, please have kind heart for old people, otherwise he get angry, blood pressure goes up, heart beat faster, dementia or Alzhimer set in or even worst beat me and push all his stress and pressure on me.
Hope u understand.
Despite population increase 16 % from 2002 to 2008,
sale of potable water is alomost the same!!
This is just a miracle!!UN shall send people to learn from SG!!
From 2002 to 2008, sale of potable water drop 14 % per capita!!
This off set the increase in population!!
NEWater and industial water replace potable water!!
Water saving compagin and water saving gear work.
No need worry abt increasing population.
Sale of potable water per day per capita, drop from 301 liter
(1 m3 = 1,000 liters) in 2002 to 260 liter in 2008!!
We have to worry abt source of potable water only.
There are 3 types of water selling in SG--
1.potable water supply to households, shops, offices, factory(for human
consumption)etc. sources of raw water come fr local and JB catchment
and sea(Tuas desalination plant!!)
2. Industrial water---low graded reclaimed water for industrial uses,
cooling, washing etc. Material is sewage--plenty!!
3. NEWater --ultra clean reclaimed water for wafer manufacturng, air cond
cooling .1 to 2 % in potable water come from NEWater.
Material is sewage--plenty!!
