7 cooling days make one stupid week.Sound like a good song title to start with but it take only 3 seconds to spoil a vote or worst vote for the wrong party again.

i think the best way in "cooling off day " should it occur before voting day is to ask ourselves and those around us the same question: do we still want this kind of life? or do are we seriously in need for a change, not only for our sake, but for that of our children, grandchildren , relatives and etc etc, that they do not have to suffer what we are suffering now where the need is make that change.

The PAP knows they have run out of ideas while the LEEs quietly acknowledge the fact that some of their hopeless MPs must go and wants to tap in on some of the opposition resources by making you vote for the good opposition candidates but this shouldnt take a whole day to think about,1 minute of cooling off is more than enough.LOL

The PAP may win - but - their political image will be tarnished
- if the results fall below the 66.6% that was falsely boasted in Election 2006
- if more MPs from the Alternative Political Parties are elected into Parliament
- if the Alternative Parties can grab more Constituencies then the present two
- if more one or more Minister lose to a candidate from the Alternative Party
Not only will the PAP image be tarnished - but - PM LHL should resign as the Secretary-General of the PAP as was expected of PM GCT - when JBJ managed to return into Parliament and sat next to Potong Pasir's CST.

LHL will never resign unless he is voted out.

Alternative Party is a very good description.No wonder I felt lousy like I am missing something everytime I use that word 'Opposition'.

The credit is not mine - as the term was first raised by a participant in this Speaker's Corner - many years back, and which I have accepted and continue to promote.The term 'Opposition' sounds too negative - and the PAP continue to promote this negative idea as if any suggestion from the other side can only be to "oppose" - to "destroy" - and cannot be constructive or better.
To the PAP - if they are seen to accept any idea from the other side, it will mean that they are not as talented as they have claimed to be.
Still, the PAP did accept some of the suggestions from the Alternative Parties over the last ten years and more - but in some very quiet ways that they will vehemently deny.
Ten years for change to accept the ideas promoted by the Alternative Parties - and a whole generation wasted - this is the PAP track record since Singapore left Malaysia on 9 August 1965.
The lives of five generation of Singaporean were screwed by the PAP leadership, and they continue to experiment with our lives and claim that there are no other talents available after their efforts at screening and gathering all available talents to join their ranks.
Can we believe in politicians that lie through their whiteness ?

Maybe we should follow the example of the PRC communist and Parliament should be like their 人大 where every speech is planned and press conferences pre arranged. Afterall we can save quite some money since the is an annual affair.

Surely you do not think that the PAP has not given these tips to PRC Communist Party and Parliament - so as to allow them to engage the Global Community ?In the late 1970s, China's Deng Xiao-ping had sent study delegations to Singapore and learn the methods employed by the PAP that allow a Single Party to dominate continuously since being independent in 1965.
Do you think that the speeches and Q&A sessions in Parliament are spontaneous ?
The only press people in attendance at each press conference are only Singaporean press people and Media Corp.
Did you not notice that each microphone had two Media Corp logo, while CNA had their own exclusive microphone as they are sending their videos all across Asia and cannot be seen as linked to the Singapore Government ?

No, incumber of those consituencies that had been around for a long time will mostly walk over or win the election. With this in mind, during the cooling day, people like me, in the walk over consituency will move our contingent into places like tampines or toa payoh to support rally there...as for our MP, he will be sleeping at home and wait for the after election sumptous dinner.

Not really, just to prevent libel from one or two smart guys hiding in the opposition parties. The people from the alternative parties are just fine. -
