well, that was my once experience, as i said, i travelled many times there just to get some cooks, do u know that in sabah and sarawak, their chinese cooks are good and cheap and hardworking??? but in servicing line, one time experience, tell u alot of story, and if you look at MAS, for the past 8 years, they lost, but still have to go on, becos it is the national airline mah. And if you look at AirAsia, the CEO Fernandez is making hell lots of money, nearly buy over a english football team too, but why the Malaysia govt dun control AirAsia? because Fernandez knows what to do with the Ministers and sultans, he tells them, you just sit back and relax, let me earn for you.
tiger is not world class la......world class is Air Asia, world's best low cost airline of 2009. In fact, their fleet of aircraft is still very small.
no lah, my Thaigirl is world class
Tiger only Asia-Pacific region. Australia, Singapore and a few other cities. No presence in most parts of China and India.
To put it bluntly, only South East Asia and Australia only.
Singapore Airlines is the only world class brand.
The airlines is more popular than the country.
That time I went Switzerland, they ask where we are from... and we replied Singapore!
And they thought we were staff of Singapore Airlines and replied "Very good airlines!"
They didnt know Singapore exist.

Having travel alot and working overseas for some years, I would like to say the Taiwan are in many ways better than Spore. In business, Taiwan know how to deal with local PRC and are successful. I went to Taiwan in the early 90s, they are way behind Singapore but now, in many ways they are much better. They do have very good transportation system, clean and efficient. Their government, although you may not like the kick boxing argument, courruption at the highest level, but the day to day operating level civil servents are pretty efficient and not affected by the politic at the top level.
Of course, the food, that has a base of multiple cultural due to the influx of the early Chiang refugee governments that make up of cross mixed of regional chinese, offer a really diverse yet traditional taste by itself.
Although Taiwanese bosses are known to be autocratic and sometime disrespectful and obsess to control, they have a sharp and streetwise sense to making money.

Are you sure Taiwan has a very efficient transportation system? Their trains when down, can be terminated for days while in Singapore it is at most for 2hours, and do you know that I can go all the way from Boon Keng to City Hall and even transfer halfway at Dhoby Ghaut, and reach City hall in only 15mins?And ahem** even SMRT's trains are cleaner than those in Taiwan, even the 30year old trains with SMRT.
Does Singapore not have it's own local food? We have food from different races and different cultures, while theirs are mainly concentrated on the east asian style.
