Thanks for liking my comments. What you are asking for is just ridiculous. If it make sense then ya sure you can demand it.
But asking for "PAP must enforce the companies that I should not work overtime. Otherwise my life with my girlfriend will be affected and I can’t go clubbing and dining at night." HAHA! this got me laughing out loud.
"Hence PAP must provide childcare cheaply, free medical and hospitalization etc. Otherwise we will not have children and it will be PAP’s fault." Are you seriously asking for a welfare state with free medical and hospitalization? Do you know the consequences of providing such free stuff? Cases in Britian when they have a welfare state, working class work damn hard so people like you can leech on such benefits.
I really doubt you got any degree at all. I presume someone of your educational standard would make better and reasonable comment.
he is trying to say what Singaporeans should deserve, particularly for men who has not only served NS (not forgetting the unlimited liability & risks), but also bear the burden as with the lots of us to uphold women's interests..but with the worst benefits...
he represents the turning point when women charter was fully accelerating and at the time when NS was 2.5 or 3 years long and taxes, standards are rising at sharp speeds...do understand his state of mind....

Yet I'm sure these are what most of my generation will want IF they are given the opportunity. Online many of them will act like 'saint' and criticise my views but deep down they know my views have hit the nails.
Otherwise there wouldn't be so much discussion about too many foreigners, overpriced HDB flats and voting PAP out during the coming GE.
I like the comments by sitonmylap
LOL! You seriously need to rethink your demands.
You think you are some hot shot that the Government will listen?
Many of us do think like that!!! We see evidences all the time @ST forum where writers demand explanation why their needs are not met by companies / government boards.
Isn't it?
zzzzzzzzz if given the chance I wanna own Temasek.
So govt must gimme too?
Jokes corner please. TY.
4. If my girlfriend and I get married and decide to have children, PAP must provide more cash relief and benefits for us as Singapore is an expensive place to live in. We have our own personal activities that I’m not willing to give up. Hence PAP must provide childcare cheaply, free medical and hospitalization etc. Otherwise we will not have children and it will be PAP’s fault. PAP is not allowed to entice foreigners to make up the numbers. PAP must give us citizens more so we can be persuaded to have children.
PAP will feed you till you are old. Also feed your children till they are old.
their big fat salaries...and growing bigger....yes....we can demand greater service...why not?

Well thanks for explaining.
I do agree we should deserve more, especially guys that have served NS. NS rebate for income tax alone is not enough.
But some demends of his are just ridiculous. Know what to fight for and know when something are just not possible.
Still have the balls to say "We have our own personal activities that I’m not willing to give up." If not willing to give up then you can forget about having kids ever. I believe every parent in this world give up a lot of stuff for their kids. My dad is one example, i bet everyone of you can related to this.
eh mite as well say open PAP's minster house as day care centre for u to put ur kids there when u're working.

I’m a natural-born Singaporean and I have done nothing to warrant a criminal record. I belong to the group who are armed with a university degree and will contribute to the society at large.
These are my rights as a Singaporeans and I insist that the government (aka PAP) accede to my demands:
1. I have listened to the call of government and have studied for 16 years including university. Because of my NS I’m delayed to go to the workforce. Hence when I graduate, I demand my rights that PAP provides sufficient jobs that I can choose. PAP must enforce the companies that I should not work overtime. Otherwise my life with my girlfriend will be affected and I can’t go clubbing and dining at night. PAP must insist that the citizens have a work-life balance at all times. The foreigners can take the low -end jobs but at no times they are allowed to take over our jobs. Even if they can work longer hours for lower pay, they are not allowed to replace us. WE have the rights to demand that.
2. HDB must provide flats at low cost for us. This despite the fact that we will earn more than 8K soon we should be given the rights to own a flat. The past generation of people had bought low and sell high and hence I demand that we should be given the rights to do so too. I demand to buy new 5 rm flats at Queenstown at not more than 400K so that I can sell it off at a profit and upgrade to a condo later. In the meantime HDB cannot have rental flats built near my area as it will lower my housing value. HDB better accede to my demands or I’ll ask the Tampines citizens to vote MBT out. Don’t dismiss the people power.
3. As a result of COE supply cut, the prices of car have gone up. This is not fair to us now and I demand that the supply to be increased so I can buy cars cheaply. ERP must be removed so I can take the expressway to work. I belong to the educated generation and I have my rights to demand that.

I’m a Singaporean and these are my deserved rights. If PAP does not do what we say, we will vote them out and make them see how powerful we are.

Forget to take your medicine huh ?

No money, take transport lah. Crazy.
his is an honest voice...no complaints are ever ridiculous and those who are in the service industry will understand that....
we are the customers...and they are the public servants....but we are customers who have been building our loyalties all these years but their labour bore fruits which is not in sync with ours...and their salaries are growing out of proportion...
It is easy to say:"Do not ask what the country can do for you...ask what you can do for your country"..it sounds great but easily abused as part of political oratory to justify his plans of pushing more out of us...we need to get more of the fruits but they are being retained for patriotic reasons...
the speaker was at the turning point...a hard to adjust situation but made it through with a lot of grievance...just allow him that outlet or valve to let it go...it will do healthy for him and his lots....
to get world class salaries..need an impossible mindset....u want to eat it...u have to bear it

Any
form of complaint means you are not working hard enough. Singaporeans need more
foreigners to kick their butts. We will need even more foreigners to compete with Singaporeans so that they dont become lazy.

40% rise in in HDB resale prices in 3 years is reasonable thanks to our competence in managing supply. Young Singaporeans are whiners. Vote for us and we will repeat our performance, flats will remain affordable using the same strategy by being even further and smaller. We are considering mickey mouse flats in JB.
3. As a result of COE supply cut, the prices of car have gone up. This is not fair to us now and I demand that the supply to be increased so I can buy cars cheaply. ERP must be removed so I can take the expressway to work. I belong to the educated generation and I have my rights to demand that.
We increased the supply in COE to win elections by claming ERP can manage a larger car population. ERP has not worked as what we planned. But If we didnt lower COE, would you have accepted ERP? Now so many of you have bought cars ,its time to raise the COE and increase our coffers. Dont blame us if you cannnot handle the the huge surge in immigrants. You need to learn to squeeze with them if you cant afford a car.

Cost is a bogey man. We need Singaporeans to work long hours so there can be no work life balance. We need Singaporeans to work cheaper better and faster. Years of shouting innovation, higher value chain, this hub that hub has not worked. Attracting foreign direct investment is the only way to work. We have been talking about growing the external wing for the last 2 decades, but the easiest way is to attract FDI from MNCs. We have to keep cheap, hard working labor plentiful.
5. Once I retire, PAP must provide for the elderly as we have contributed so much to the society. I demand free medical and hospitalization, free transport rides and discounted rates for food and pleasures.
Most
developed countries have a working system for retirement and
Singapore has CPF. Its working so well that our elderly have to work
in food court as cleaners. It is alright our elderly commit suicide if they do not have enough money
to pay for medical bills. These are parasites to our darwinistic
system. Our retirement system is so good i am sure many foreigners
would praise it. Anyone who criticizes it does not understand our unique system. Our system keeps the old people working well passed retirement age.
Young people! if you dont work hard, you will be like
them!
I’m a Singaporean and these are my deserved rights. If PAP does not do what we say, we will vote them out and make them see how powerful we are.
Vote for PAP to get a repeat of the last 5 years!
Vote for PAP for more good years!
Majulah PAP!
From the feedback gathered, most of you think the demands that I propose were unreasonable, self-centered and narrow minded. I think so too:-) Yet this is the attitude of the upcoming generation of Singaporeans.
If you can read in between the words, you probably may guess the 'long essay' was just simply sardonic, satirical remarks about the demands of the post 80s.
Many of you who replied I think are probably the same generation as me, the IT immigrants.
Hence do look out for them soon when they come working with us and start making unreasonable demands.
We dun even read a joker essay, talk so much for what? When u demand for something, make sure you got some credential in you..please
have confidence in yourself truly truly...
LKY was on board of the ship escaping to London for his law studies...he merely took pails of water for shower inconsiderate of the others who also needs the water....and he stated he wouldn't be bothered about what others say about him...
why bother about what others have to say about you if you live up to your conscience and to what you truly think it's right...
go ahead...truly
truly...u dun have to be an elitist to think what is right
agreed, who dunno what is right or wrong, but the difference between a commoner and elite is that Commoner think about the whole whereas elite think only for themselves ya.
Truly, as a singaporean, you have the right,
the right to remain silent, anything you said can be taken as an evidence in court of Singapore.
