Do Singaporeans really forget about the last painful increase - even when the increase had been introduced in such minisicular portions ?
Or is it not a fact that Singaporeans will find themselves trapped in the endless monthly cash bind when bills have to be paid - and suddenly find themselves having to tighten their belts yet again ?
Has it not been a case that our money continue to drip out of our wallets like a dripping tap that empty a water tank over time ?
Why will the angel avoid telling the truth, or is the angel preferring to soften the propaganda and promote the PAP's interest in a backhanded way ?
Was the Singapore Government paid for their ability to tame the ground, or did the PAP pay themselves for cheating Singaporeans from the Truth ?
The Singapore Government got an easy job to govern Singapore as the PAP had fixed a clean sweep for themselves in Parliament - so as to be able to pass any legislations as they pleased - that will even disallow ONE person to hold a public protest about anything, let alone about the rising cost of living in Singapore.
Unders such circumstances, can Singaporeans as a collective lot be reminded of what hit them over the last few months or years - when prices keep creeping up by 0.5 percent or 0.01 cent per unit consumed ?
What does an angel know about the pain from price increases, when bills are settled by Daddy - and especially when the angel will not even remember the various sexual escapades with the multiple sex partners that she had ?
Be assured, Singaporeans do remember the price increases when they have to force themselves to tighten their belts when cash is short before the next wage increase or cash rebate is received.
Is it any wonder that this Government will return some cash at the end of each year - $200 to $400 per working person, only to milk more from the wallet - like the increase to property tax that wipe this returned amount at one go, and milk you more from the new price increases in utilities and transport fares ?
Only one - who will forget the ecstacy given by a favored sex partner - will be able to forget anything - including the pain inflicted on oneself.
Speak for yourself if you wish to be as escapist from reality, and do not attempt to speak for every other Singaporean who remembers.
PAP mastered our typical Singaporeans psychological behavor very well, they know how to pull and release the string as and when needed. Recently, a big WOw Ha at my nearby coffeeshop started when those regular Uncles and Aunties got their rebates, beer clinging and seafood ordering was the joy of the day, even as i walked pass, they pull me in and invite me for food, "Xiao mei, lai lai..." , no more talking about transport increase, food increase, bills increase as they use to be.
So, if you look at it, just a mere small amount of rebates can make Singaporeans forget all things of the past... i have no doubt, PAP had truly engaged a top psycharist in their domain.

Perhaps your generalisation that old people rooted for them is flawed.
is there hope for sporeans in spore???from what i observed,,,they would rather hide in their backyard and yell at some poor cat than aproach the problem face to face.they lack everything to make a new beginining, how is this so and why is this so?is it the food?the work environment???the atmosphere???

the government increases GST etc so as to curb the growing demand for resources. if the demand is growing faster than the supply, it will lead to inflation. and since sgp has no natural resources, such inflations are imported. then there is not much the government can do as they dont control the supply. hence they are trying to 'tame' the demand.
then some may ask,how is this fair to those lower income groups? now, the government uses the money they collect from tax and redistribute it to the lower income group as tax/gst rebates etc, hence trying to pull the income gap closer.
hence i do not understand why people are complaining about hike in prices of this and that. does the government control a very big proportion of the price? the market out there is quite a 'free market' with little intervenetion. so why are the people pinning all the blame( in terms of price hike) on the government?
government who keeps inflation at bay= bad government?
=) just trying to share some basic economic theories.
with no doubt, without resources, we are expose to external increases...since you said govt had no control over imported inflation, i quote you the price of one of the most valuable commodity, Oil.
If Oil prices goes up, i agreed, govt had little control over it, many oil related good such as transport, Power supply bills etc etc will rise, and the rest of other goods will follow in a domino effect situation.
But then when prices went down....why power supply bills never goes down, so are all the others including essential goods...
And if govt cannot interfere with the prices of goods in Singapore. Then what the hell is the govt for??? They are part of of the price control and taker of this country ya...u really talk alots of corks..

Basic economic theories dun really work any more
Some study till PHD, i n the end still screw up the whole market
screwing up the whole market is what the govt wanted them to do...so that we have to pay more and more, the more they screw up, the more happy is our govt...if u dun believe, many PhD walking about at the science parks and EDB board doing nothing but surfing porn
@Topic:Stupid question.
Already, there are PAP minister get attacked by the public.
Already, there are riots happening during general election period, after which the ppl know the election result of PAP winning again. This show that Singaporeans are capable of staging a riots n even revolts.
Already,if u were to take a look at various internet forums, under politics column, the public are showing very high emotional anger of how PAP have mismanaging this country for years. And not letting any opposition party to really have a say in the parliament.Just 2 dieing seats in there.
All this signs, show that there are really problems exist in years of PAP dictatorial ruling. So,if u dont let opposition enter the parliamentary gate in a considerable numbers, how are we n the PAP going to solve the problem?

Yes, there is constant rise in the resentment towards the PAP. They ask for it.
Paying themselves world class salary but they don't seem to know their work. The pinky loon just stated that unemployment rate decrease from 3% to 5%. Gan said that unemployment increase to 5.5%.
Now you see them so eager to spread more good news to garner more votes for themselves for the election. I hope the citizens are smart not to be taken in by that. paint beautiful pictures before election, when they win - after election is another different "scenery" from the painting.

Yup...
I am not asking the PAP to totally get out of the parliament. But atleast, they should share power with the opposition parties. So that,if there are any major issues, regarding Singaporeans living costs, foreign investment or diplomatic issues etc, there will be a discussion between opposition parties n the PAP.And not like now,as if PAP doing all the "solo show".
Besides, even if some PAP policies get rejected by the opposition parties in future, there is nothing to get upset.Afterall,we cant get things our way everytime right?
Btw,this is off topic,i feel that this forums there is something wrong with it.There is like some fukers peeking on my computer....
Dont know is it those moderators monitoring my post while i typing or what....

Oppositions be there to check on their policies. There again, with the old heck still alive, it is limited to what the oppositions can achieve.
Frankly, I don't see that they will be totally out of parliament so soon though it is my ultmate wish they will be totally one day, nobody from PAP left in parliament. Zan cao bu chu gen, chun feng cui you sheng!
Oops, ISD peeking at your PC

You cant have all the PAP members get out of the parliament, its unrealistic coz they are in power right now,and probably in the near future. And also, they do have credit for building up this country. If we try to deny that,it is not right.
What most ppl dissatisfied now is their dominating position in the parliament, and denying almost every constructive ideas raised by the public or the opposition parties. And the PAP also try to "overrun" the public with their unpopular policies, despite ppl protest.
And lastly,to counter your peeking,my Norton Firewall is ON!!!MUAHAHA!!!

What do you mean I can't have all the PAP members out of parliament???? I believe this will happen one day, this may not be our generation. PAP members for building up this country? Please get your facts right . It is MM LEE and some of the old PAP members together with the people of Singapore that credit be given in building the country. So did I deny ??? Please don't point fingers and put words into my mouth, be mature to know what is going on. So childish. You are just one of the many kiasu kiasi Singaporeans. With people like you, PAP will behave worse than now and before if they get voted in again.
For your info, don't accuse me for peeking at your PC, perhaps the place you need to be in is IMH not Speakers' Corner.
it is not impossible but requires lots of supporters and tenacity to fulfill it...
Like many great revolutionaries...this can be done but done with an important revolution and not simply holding seminars and forums discussing it....to do it with peaceful means may not work...so long as they are holding power and our money....it is near impossible to topple them unless we ACT....once voting them out is not possible, action is the next stage..and with increasing resentment, such action becomes a revolution - once that day happens, bloodshed seizes the day....Sun Yat Sen failed too many times to topple Qing dynasty...and became Father of China...
dun be surprised the armies are ready to strike anytime....
BUT if you are really committed to the cause, be prepared to sacrifice...

You got passed your "A" level economics or not ?
Use GST to control inflation ?
So, when there is inflation, increase GST and when there is deflation, decrease GST ? Do you see this is happening in Singapore ?
The increase in GST will increase the cost of living and in turns this will lead to the demand for higher wages and higher cost of production and the increase in GST will also increase the input costs for the firms and this will in turn lead to higher cost of production and this will fuel inflation.
The introduction of the GST is due mainly to the ageing population and hence the government shifts from direct taxation to indirect taxation to generate its tax revenue.
The increase in GST from 5% to 7% is to generate tax revenue to finance the workfare scheme to help the lower income workers as these workers' wages are too low and unable to cope with the high cost of living.

It is not true that the government has no control over the imported inflation.
A government can insulate its economy from imported inflation partially or totally through the use of the external value of its currency especially the country has a huge BOP surplus and huge reserves.
The increase in productivity is always the best policy towards any form of inflation, including imported inflation
There are many more ways to tackle imported inflation.
Please google it. Ok.

Also most of the foreign ministers know pap ministers very well.
If a opposition party took over, I dont think foreign ministers will know them and also they will hold back everything and see how opposition flaring in spore. That will be the hardest time for spore and sporean.
It is just like trying to pull out a tree that is rooted in the ground for many many years. Once pull out, it will left a huge hole on the ground. and need sands (pple) to cover up the hole and seeds (opposition) to plant again. Whether the seeds will grow or not depends. If grow, spore will success, if seeds unable to grow, spore doom.
Errr...sorry for me talking rubbish. I just type only.
