Are they using
Are they using this cooling off period in addition to allocating new electoral boundaries. Will they be using this valuable time to plan extraordinary moves to surprise us. Would it actually be possible to stop all communication except the mainline newspapers. How are they going to control the mainline news from publishing articles which are offensive. Most of all how are they going to stop internet chatter, It's not going to be easy and to be fair to all parties.I suggest to the Government not to introduce this cooling off period since our citizens are matured enough to vote wisely unless they think otherwise.
Introduce cooling period or not, even if you want to vote for opposition this time, know what you want, do what you want. Don't let your emotions be swayed by these unfair proposals of the ruling party.
Many people say they don't like government yet they voted for PAP out of fear.
Time to change and cast off your slumber!
Ah Yes.. Lau Goh likes his woman... "submissive".
The votes were already cast in spirit way before the election date.
Cooling or not.. it ain't matter.
We need more oppositions in parliament to secure Singaporeans' interests effectively for both the short term and the long term. Increasing opposition numbers would facilitate the future elected govenment to work towards policies that improves the lives of ordinary singaporeans and not just obtaining theoratical numbers that do not benefit local citizens. More opposition would also mean that the government would have to prove themselves on a regular basis that policies they issue are the most appropriate and beneficial to Singaporeans and the country. If I remembered correctly, influx of foreigners is encouraged as this would keep Singapore/Singaporeans competitive. Similarly, more opposition would provide a more competitive and dynamic environment for the government to do their job well.
Absence of this dynamic work environment has resulted in present policies that is burdensome to the average Singaporean (i.e. depressed income, uncontrolled foreign influx, unafforable housing, etc). As such, we need more oppositions to secure the interests of Singaporeans!
