Yes it has depressed wages. Thats what the government wanted to do all along. Depress wages, make Singapore more competitive. They already said, "Cheaper, Better, Faster."
WSJ didn't prove or churn up any numbers that we don't know. Its not like they studied or anything, they just did an article. Cos if they did the statistics, I'd like to see it.
Question is, is this policy effective? Also, we are not seeing an influx of foreign "talents" (meaning professionals), but we have seen a mixed bag of talents and trash. Some may have brought economic benefits, many have brought societal tensions and conflicts by being still rooted in their old cultural norms and behaviors.
End of the day, the younger generations of Singaporeans feel threatened by them, and choose to leave Singapore instead. After all, there are so many places out there that would welcome them with first world wages, and be royally treated as a foreign "talent."

I mean even a layman with no education can see that singaporeans are buying and throwing things like no body business, eat good, expensive and exotic foods, travel to holiday every quarter of the year, buy property after porperty, weekends chiong disco, pubs, happy hours etc etc...line up to buy LV, gucci...you got to be kidding ya.
