Morality and ethics in singapore

These values have eroded in our society, In the name of progress and wealth creation, people nowadays are self centered and ever prepared to climb up the social ladder through unethical means. What is happening to our society. Where are the Confucian values that has been preached by a certain old man all the time?
Where were we heading towards?

I had seen: Confucious values had been abandoned since Taiwan opened up to foreign investments.
Corruption in capitalistic society seems to be more tolerated in some countries due to its legal structure. Seems like white collar criminals get to stay in jail shorter than those other criminals, while receive less caning, sometimes even managed to stock away their wealth in other countries in secret before getting caught and jailed.
I dare say the most intelligent white criminals prefer to do white collar crimes in SG due to the environment of its jail. I mean, when you do such crimes in hongkong or in thailand, I think your victims will also try to 'reach' you even when you are in a jail...if you know what I mean, being a white collar criminal is 'less safe' there.
Then again in some countries, corruption is often the culture. Such as philipines... In singapore, not so sure.
