Hello, stop sidetracking the main topic leh. What an outsider view LKY and Singapore is not important but what we can contribute to make this a better place to live is why we spend time here.
The fact that we have a good 'Singapore brand' oversea is because what we have acheived in this little island. You may disagree with certain policies and implementation but the end result and achievements cannot be denial.
We have a beautiful city that most of my Chinese colleagues admire. Of cource, we can compliant of the PRC influcence and the PR status given to these foriegners. Most of these people come to work here had something to contribute, be it your boss of your subordinates. We can continue to debate if we need them or not as it is meaningless and I can attest to the fact that most companies dont take recruitment because they are cheap or expensive or which country they belongs.
The problem with we Singaporean is like frogs in the well, still looking at the world from the a single window view. We may be well travel and we have internet, it is only when we are truely intergrate and work with these outsiders than we are can share views and understand how the world had changed and the problem we face as a country to stay relevant.
We have real problem with salary, employment, housing and all these are hand to mounth issues. We have elitism that have placed official in high level government that know nothing of the general population but continue to behave with SOE mentality. We think by creating a vibrant place , the rich and famous will settle in Singapore..we plan and plan and chart our policies without knowing the world changing rapidly. We think we can anticipate but we start to loose millions from our GIC investments........last, we have a voting system that cast in iron a communist one party rule. Who do we blame? We created this monster ourself and now we find it so hard to find alternatives and solutions. So make this forum a better place and surely, someone is watching.

Spread his fucking propaganda filth; brainwash naive people.

Hey if you're comfortable with some joker insulting everyone else born in your generation that's your call.
My main problem is not just with the author, but with the little jokers who constantly requote it to lend themselves legitimacy.

Chew Bakar, is there truth in Chia Thye Poh's words that local political forces used the racial tensions as a tool to serve their own agendas?

Mr Speaker: You have one more minute left.
Enche' Chia Thye Poh: I think one more minute is too short.
Mr Speaker: I will give you one more minute.
Enche' Chia Thye Poh: I think it is most unfair for me to complete my speech in one minute. I beg you to ...
Mr Speaker: No, I will give you one minute.

Chia Thye Poh: Sir, when the Prime Minister talks of defending our
country, we find it hollow. This Government has betrayed all the vital
interests of the people to the British. It has no right to talk of
defending the nation. This Government is oppressing the people; more
than 200 political leaders and trade unionists are in the jails of
Singapore. Our Secretary- General, Mr Lim Chin Siong, is in Changi and
political dwarfs like Mr Lee Kuan Yew can strut around and talk big
only when giants like Mr Lim Chin Siong are kept out of the political
arena (interruption).
Mr Speaker: Do not disturb him.
Enche'
Chia Thye Poh: The Prime Minister has spoken about the communal riots
in Singapore. He says that the Indonesians and the Communists caused
it.
We are from Singapore and we know that this is just to cover up the real culprits.
The Prime Minister of Singapore is telling, in Europe,
that the UMNO politicians have caused it. The UMNO in Singapore says
that the P.A.P. has caused it. We who are in Singapore know that the
communal riots were the work of the UMNO and the P.A.P. who were
indulging in a bitter fight for power . All this nonsense about the
Indonesians and the Communists causing these riots is just to hide the
truth that the main culprits belong to the ruling parties.
SOME HONOURABLE MEMBERS : Nonsense! Lies
Enche' Chia Thye Poh : We challenge the Government to have a public enquiry into this. When the riots started . . . .

Poulgrain claims it was actually Singapore's then Chief Minister, Lim Yew Hock, who had deliberately "provoked" the bus and other industrial workers and Chinese middle students to riot in 1956 in order to have Lim Chin Siong arrested.
Lim Yew Hock's own admission to responsibility for the riot appears in an official report to the British Government which Poulgrain found in the Colonial Office records in London which are now open to researchers.
"Lee Kuan Yew was secretly a party with Lim Yew Hock," adds Poulgrain, "in urging the Colonial Secretary to impose the subversives ban in making it illegal for former political detainees to stand for election."

Fuck you Lee Kuan Yew, you anglo dog.
In an attempt to make my experience memorable, Lester got me a press pass to the NUS Kent ridge Ministerial Forum to hear Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew. As an honorary member of The Kent Ridge Common staff, I ventured to have one of my most memorable Singaporean experiences. As I was told by my fellow classmates before the event, “This is like getting to see Obama!”
All these filthy dirty propaganda bullshit must end.
We can't let Lee Kuan Yew's fucking propaganda to go on and pollute people's mind.
All these naive young people all tricked by Lee Kuan Yew's filth.
We can't allow that to go on.
Lee Kuan Yew, your fucking propaganda is very smelly.
I don't like it.
Relax, the most i ask my young frens to vote for opposition ya.

Has the X-rated Fraud given an X-rated boost to the Taiwanese 'hum' to continue flapping its clitoris to spread its irrelevance and irrerevant post in this Speaker's Corner ?
Is this an attempt to seek attention to satisfy its needs of an "Attention Seeking Whore" and to protect the PAP in gratitude for being given a Singapore Citizenship ?
Men most of the merchant and traders on this street has closed down their business.....all is left are none other than pubs and resturant....
Those folks who dealt on this street are the earlier pioneer of Singapore...The Go Down Warehouses....the textile merchant....these guys are the one who import from outside and re-export....they were one of the export contributors to the region...
The problems with SG Govt they don't recognized what we have and destroy them....
Edit to ADD:
The mother of all Ironies in this picture....are the background of OCBC and UOB building their bricks were built on the business activities from these merchants and traders from the street of boat quay, circular street.....go down warehouse....
Last but not the least....
They have the greaterest street food of all....

"Singapore brand" I think that is "One" of the cause of the problems...
Reason....the liberal states still considered Singapore a dictator so they are not too keen on Singapore....
The chinese don't see us as "China Chinese" but Western Chinese so we don't think like them...
So the Singapore brand is only in Accademic.....and social book.
