Only when they suffer a defeat will they reflect on their rubbish policies.

i second that
I dont get this...
Let's say we 'bought' a 4-room flat for $250k. Every month we will pay thru CPF around $700 for around 30 years. That should already cover all expenses and costs in building the flat during the time it was built.
So, how can they charge us again if the property price go up? Its not as if HDB will have to pay contractor for the increase in prices.
It as though you are paying for your lcd tv installment for 48 months (from Courts eg) and 13 months later Courts called you up and say you have to pay another $50 fee because the price of lcd tv go up.
These garbrament, i don't think they stay in HDB, so raise the property tax, not their problem mah...
as long as their pay increase yearly can already!!!!
Same goes for the transport. They don't take MRT to work, so they cannot and will not understand our problem.
The logic here is simple, with so much increases in properties that even a 4 rooms flat cost 250k or 650k in prime places, do you expect tax to be the same???

what govt stay in HDB flat, dun even think about it, if you compare with our govt that people voted with it citizens, it will be a joke

'sides... hey.. the MIW are somehow the lesser of two evils at the moment.. but they're trying to be the no.1 evil.. trying really hard.. and they're also bloody trying
Why can't opposition get their act together?
It comes from the decades of fear politics created by LKY, that's why in the past the opposition lacks qualified candidates.
They own the state media, which will go all out to promote PAP propaganda.
Also like he way they say "avoid bigger increases later", which means they intended a much higher increase but will do so gradually so that HDB owners won't feel the pinch.
i imagine in future, CNA's rolling news says "Eat more now so you won't be hungry tomorrow: Minister"

Well...I wished! But unfortunately I am still slogging to make a living, taking over the expenses of the household since my dad passed away. But to me, I have already understood how this society worked, you need to work for it. So I leave political fighting to politicians while i just spend my time to work for my and mother's livelihood. But do tell me when all these pap bashing on forums do work, I will thank you all.

It's kind of contradictory, because society works based models conceived by politicians, if you want changes in your life, you first need to change the government. You say you work, your working environment has been drastically changed by the PAP government from their import of cheaper foreign labour. The HDB you live in, it has gone up dramatically the past 5 years. Why is this so? PAP's policy of mass spamming Singapore with more cheap foreign talents to compete for you with for housing?
I don't think it's bashing, it's called widening the horizons and knowledge of the less politically intuitive.

Ok apologies for calling it "bashing". Whatever it is, let me know when it works. I will not deny that there are people who are willing to stand up for this and actually do something and make things happen. Let me know too if you are one of those who are trying to actually do something in real life, I will support you. But most people, my opinion is, change what you can change. Influence those you can influence. There are many things that you may be concerned about, like rising costs but these may be things you are not able to change. So change those things you can and leave those other things to people who can do those things better.

"Other people who can do those things better"?
Who are they?
PAP Ministers to look out for your rights?
They are better at looking out for how much money they can suck from the system.
You fight for your own rights, you do not ask others to fight for your rights and freedom.
Haven't we learn enough from the Vietnam wars and WW2 British defence in Singapore.

Actually, I think this strategy helps them make more money.
Instead of slapping with you a $5 tax say in 3 years time, they tax you $1 in the 1st year, $3 in the 2nd year and then $5 in the third year - a total of $9 by 3rd year.
But they do it in increments so that people don't see and feel the total impact immediately.
Kind of like stretching your mortgage loan payments to 30 years - you think it is "affordable" but in reality, the absolute total P+I payments accumulate to a huge sum at the end of 30 years .

That's psychology.
Remember when they first implemented GST or increase the rates, they always give you rebates, so you think you are actually benefiting or breaking even from it. But after 1-2 years they remove the rebates, but you have already gotten used to the GST and forgotten about the rebates you used to receive.
At the end of the day, it's guaranteed that their policies will bring in more money (reserves) for them, at the expense of Singaporeans.
Then when recession hits, they will ask for donations by selling Lego bricks. What happened to the reserves that was suppose to be used for rainy days?
Every year, they will have performances to raise money for charitable organisation. What happened to the reserves?

There are other people like people who really got into politics. People like Chiam, people who actually did something to advance their political agenda. I did not ask people to fight for my rights ah? Did I? I just say leave these political fighting to people who wants and have the ability and capacity to do it. For me, I fully know what are my rights and I play within the boundaries of the game.

You believe Chiam or Low has the power to vote against the PAP in parliament?
What are you smoking?
Politics begins with the people, only when ordinary folks like you and me show participation in it, only then will things start to change. It's not like, let's leave everything to the opposition and everything will sort itself out.
Especially when the opposition is so weak due to decades of repression by the old man.
One also has to question why you are asking folks to stop discussions about anything negative about PAP. Don't Singaporeans have a right to discuss openly about our screwed up political system.

So in your opinion, every single person should get involve in politics? What are you smoking? I am not against you getting involved in politics though. As I said, if you are indeed a person who are actually doing something in your reality to advance the agenda, then I will support you!
"Don't Singaporeans have a right to discuss openly about our screwed up political system."
And one more thing! I love a good discussion, but not when the discussion already starts off with a biased statement that speaks of a foregone conclusion. Then whats there to discuss? You already say its a screwed up poliltical system. Whats there to discuss? based on this statement, it doesnt seem you are here to discuss, you seem to be here to look for people to agree with you

Get involve in politics means knowing about political issues. You sure you sober? Getting involve doesn't mean joining a political party to contest a GRC.
Political discussions.
When I say Mr. A is bad, but you think Mr. A is good, we bring up points to support our arguments. When I say Mr. A is bad, you think it's a forgone conclusion, then you obviously lack valid points and agree with my statement.
If I say it's a screwed up political system, you think otherwise, we can discuss our points. But you seem to think it's a forgone conclusion. So what more can I say?
Not looking for folks to agree with me, but looking for facts and truth, something which they have denied all Singaporeans.
I am all for folks speaking up, unlike you trying to silence everybody.
Vote for opposition party next election!
If you want a discussion, it has to be stated as "Lets discuss whether our political system is screwed up" not to "discuss ABOUT our screwed up political system." You have stated the discussion is ABOUT our screwed up political system. That is already asking people to discuss about a conclusion that you have reached and not asking them to reach their own conclusions through a discussion. Maybe you are really actively doing something about these agendas in reality but I am always interested in a discussion on neutral grounds but doesnt care about entering into a discussion with parties who have already determined the conclusions they are seeking. Hope you have a fulfilling life fighting battles online. Cheers!
