A Singapore Indian has expressed his shock and dismay of being “swarmed” by overseas Indians within his own community!
In an interview with the state media, Mr K. Varatharaju, 43, a factory owner related his own experience when he sent his youngest daughter to Sarada Kindergarten in Bartley Road: He discovered that she was one of only two Singaporean Indians in the class of 15.

“When I go for a function and I see only expat Indians and no Singaporean Indians, I feel uncomfortable – like the future is being taken over by expats. What will happen in 15 or 20 years’ time, when my children start work?’ he asked.
In all likelihood, Mr Varatharju’s children will find themselves competing with foreigners from all nationalities (not only expat Indians) for a decent job if the ruling party’s liberal immigration policy continues unabated.
Foreigners now made up 36 per cent of Singapore’s 5-million odd population which means that one of out three people you see in the streets are non-Singaporeans.
About 8 per cent of Singapore’s populations are Indians, most of whom are ethnic Tamils whose descendants hailed from the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
Singapore has a sizable number of expat Indians working in the IT and engineering sectors and they come predominantly from the northern Indian cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore.
Apparently, Mr Varatharju does not feel comfortable with the influx of overseas Indians in Singapore, just like how ethnic Chinese are aghast at the arrival of large numbers of Chinese from mainland China.
Though Singapore is a nation of immigrants, the four major races of Singapore have lived together peacefully for decades and have evolved an unique culture and identity which is separate from their ancestral homelands.
For example, an ethnic Singapore Chinese will probably prefer the Indian Roti Prata or the Malay Mee Rebus for breakfast than the Chinese “jiao3 zi3″, a staple diet in northern China.
Mr Varatharju may find it easier to strike a conversation in English with his Malay neighbors than an expat Indian from Mumbai with a different accent.
Despite rising unhappiness and disgruntlement on the ground at the relentless influx of foreigners, the ruling party is adamant that foreigners are “essential” for Singapore.
In the past, foreigners are employed only in sectors shunned by Singaporeans such as the construction industry.
Nowadays, foreigners can be found taking up semi-skilled jobs like network administrators which can otherwise by filled by a local.
Due to their lower wages, foreigners help to keep Singapore businesses competitive which contributes to Singapore’s GDP growth.
A substantial percentage of the ministers’ multi-million pay is pegged to Singapore’s GDP growth rates.
The ruling party has lately unveiled a $10-million dollar mega “Community Integration Fund” to make the newcomers feel “welcomed” in Singapore.
As the number of expat Indians continue to rise in Singapore, Mr Varatharju may find himself the one who needs to “integrate” into the Singapore Indian community instead of the other way round.

Should anyone be surprised that in a sea of new Indian arrivals taking up Permanent Residence in Singapore, the Singaporeans Indian ethnic minority will be feeling that they will feel even more as a local minority within their own community ?
In the other thread - ‘Citizens constitute only 63% of Singapore’s Population’ (*1) - in which data posted in my reponse on Page 9 showed the situaton to be more alarming when seen over a long period.
Using the ‘Statistics Timeline of Population Census’ (*1) - the rate of increase in the number of citizens to the total population ratios during 1989, 1999 and 2009 - will reveal a more shocking trend.
From 1970 to 1989, the increase in citizens to the total population had reflected closely to the natural birth rate, showing the slow growth - (low birth rate and tight immigration rules) - of only 634,000 over a period of 19 years.
From the data reviewed, one will notice that the percentage of citizens to the Total Population is declining through the years.
1970 - Total Population Nos: 2.074.5 - * - No of Citizens: 2,013.6 - * - 97.064%
1989 - Total Population Nos: 2,930.9 - * - No. of Citizens: 2,647.6 - * - 90.334%
1999 - Total Population Nos: 3,958.7 - * - No of Citizens: 3,229.7 - * - 81.585%
2009 - Total Population Nos: 4,987.6 - * - No of Citizens: 3,733.9 - * - 74.863%
From 1989 to 2009, the increase in new citizens showed a steep growth that can only be from a liberalised entry of foreigners - amounting to a total of 1,086.3 million, which form about 41% of the number of citizens in census year 1989.
If 1970 is used as a baseline, the increase in citizens between 1979 to 2009 will amount to 1,720.3 million of new citizens arriving since 1971 onwards.
The new citizens have numbered 85.43% over the total number of Citizens in 1979.
If Sarada Kindergarten waits for Singaporeans to come and fill the class, I think it would have to wait long long.
Not a question of waiting for Singaporean to fill the class but really a question of too many foreigners turning PRs in the shortest time.
This could be the scenario in the future.
At least half the students in your school could be foreigners.
Especially bukit batok which i am staying. Just 10 mins walk to Mrt..u will encounter so many foreigner anywhere u passby. Really change alot.. i really feel uncomfortable too. sooner or later become bukit china.. haha or bukit india
It is all due to Lee Kuan Yew and his bullshit stop at 2 policy.

Other then vote out PAP in next elections, I don't see how Singapore can be saved.
Everything will be destroyed in less than 10 years under their current policy.
vote PAP out of office? I wonder if I will ever get to see that in my lifetime.

PAP is not entirely about him lar. the PM, the ministers and the backbenchers also.
Indian kindergarten business model to attract children of expatriates or local indians ? If he is local why is he sending his child to an indian kindergarten instead of a multiracial one ?

Singapore PRC PR Zhang Yuan Yuan Flashed Nric on Chinese TV and Proclaimed Loyalty to China Publicly.
Why singapore govt will want to mass import PRCs into singapore
1. Cheap labour , bring down cost of labour to attract more investment from foreigners
2. To further increase the chinese population and dilute the the races , chinese in sg birthrate is only 1.2 compared to another race which is 3+ ( u know who) , they are very worried about this increasing trend
3. If the PRCs chose to settle down here and become citizen , they will continue to vote for PAP in election as PAP are pro-foreigners
4. If the PRCs choose settle down here and continue to be PR , after working till 50 and beyond and F.O from our country , Singapore stand to reap the work they have contributed and the government don't have to take care of them when they are old
5. If they didn become PR or citizen at all , they are still contributing and helped to keep the cost of wage down ( those prc beer girl , road cleaners , construction worker etc )
6. When singapore population increase to say 6mil through mass migration, they earn more through tax and additional income ( electricity bills...phone bills...bus etc) as compared to when singapore native population is only 3mil
As you can see , it's a win-win-win-win-win situation for singapore govt as a whole , i have a better chance of winnning election , i have a better economy report card , i can earn more $$$
never forget the PAPs are a bunch of selfish people who only think of making more and more money , who cares about YOUR feeling? , how much per kg is your feeling worth compared to $$$$ and benefit i stand to reap if i mass import robots from PRC.
