  The Tunku was known to be a playboy, and the Communist was made into a boogie man for his own political convenience, when in truth he was totally uncomfortable with a Chinese majority population that is independent and lying next to his territory.

  He simply cannot tolerate a Chinese-majority Singapore to be independent like Cuba next to the USA - and with the possibility of the Chinese majority in Singapore making any attempt to align local politics with China.

  Were there "Communists" in Singapore in the 1950s - when the British ISD working under the instruction of the Colonial Office had already investigated all the key players and confirmed that none were "Communists", and had even stated that they were all "nationalists" with "leftist" political ideas.
