Singapore improves overall score on gender equality
Not surprising to see the Scandinavian countries at the top.
How do they grade these things anyway?
Don't see how women are doing so badly compared to men

I think its how the regions are. I'm in Kyuushu now. It's sort of kampung, no such thing as Ladies First.
You can throw this statistic out the window.CRAP!
Factoring politics with relative female participation in it and the fact that many aunties in the past who do not receive formal education, who are still in the workforce today, it is no wonder Singapore ranked so low.
Other than that, the 30s 40s wise, I would say women are in better position than men these days. Men actually in reality earn much less than women. 2 years of NS has delayed men's pay in comparison with women's pay, as they graduate later by 2 years. With women having pay cheques bigger than men by 2 years.

The NS period of two years is too long.
The reservist period of 10 years is too long.
They must be shortened.
Other countries only 9 months, 1 year etc, but this fucked up PAP government insists on 2 years.
Who the fuck want to attack us?

angel3070, say anything abt PAP or government policies or wadever, i dun give a fuck. Just dun say anything about our army.
The country with 9mths of NS is malaysia if im nt wrong. But jst look at their military standard and our standards. You are true that noone would attack us IF ONLY we have such a strong force. If no good army, dun even talk abt fighting, Singapore will surrender just like in WW2.

True, but 2 years is still too long.
It must be shortened.
National service should change to 3 or 4 years...2 years way too short......reservist should be scrapped though...LOL

We can't do anything about it anyway. But the good side is because of the 2 years NS, Singapore is the best military in our region (as said by a US General). Anyway we so small and popular so need something to make ppl think twice about attacking us. Not trying to say SAF is perfect though

I seriously doubt that 2 years NS is the reason for good military.

It must be shortened.

This is just my opinion.NS is good but the pay is low which makes a lot of people feel exploited for their time and effort.Might as well build up a good regular army and reduce the NS time for the half hearted others.
I actually thought that gals are doing better because of the nature of our economy and society, which is hugely service-oriented. Areas like IT, science and manufacturing which guys are good in, are just too lowly paid comparatively (not to mention influx of FTs who excel in these areas).

Precisely, that's why i don't get the low ranking.
But it seems points are allocated more on the amount of women on the top positions. Seemed like a pretty skewed way of doing it.
Sure it sounds nice with the gender inequality tag, but it's more of a women inequality thing.
wat is gender equalitty?
Boys listen to girls, girls take care of house, boys work for family, boys sayang girls, girls sayang boys. That's gender equality
I think we are ranked this low because Singapore is a country that is unfair to men. One look at the women's charter you know Singapore is biased towards the ladies.
lol.. they must be so bored to even rank these kind of things..
girl power
Not good to be a man in Singapore.
Lets be woman. LOL...
Singapore btw was the 1st country that change a man into a woman. =)
