There are lots of people applying for jobs in bank because of the good pay and benefits.
The pay is depending on your qualification and experience. The job that I am doing requires special skills and its not easy to employ foreigners to do it.
If you have experience and the qualification everywhere you go be it civil service, SME, MNC or banks you will still be drawing high pay.
I feel like talking to a 3 year old boy and having to educate him about the employment market

last i heard, banks are being squeezed too.... but if you say you have special skills that only you have... i take it at face value that you are telling the truth....but if you say that there are lots of poeple applying for jobs and all they can offer you is a contract position.... hmmm, it does say a lot about your (ahem) qualification... maybe your special skills may not be so special after all....

Nowadays all companies are being squeezed. Even the civil service is getting a cut in their bonus.
The majority of banks are offering contract jobs it has nothing to do with qualification.
Even for manager positions in banks they are offering contract jobs unless you are applying for CEO position.
I have my reasons for chosing to work for the SME which don't need to explain to you because you won't understand too. In life you do not just see salary and benefits too. The SME gives me the related working experience which in future it will be easy for me to pursue a career in this line with other big and better companies so its a stepping stone.
You continue to support the PAP. Don't bother about other things because you won't understand too

The contract job is like a probation period for them to access your performance before deciding whether to convert you to perm and you still get to enjoy all the benefits like bonus, leave etc given to a perm staff.
