Rather than debate if current status of opposition can lead Singapore....U cannot used our pathetics 1 or 2 opposition member in the parliment to measure the performance when all other ministries are tied to pay n pay.
I think there is a different between being a majority in the parliment vs 30%-40% opposition and work their way up to earn Singaporean vote. I think Singaporean would be able to see if opposition can find their identity in the domestics politics of Singapore....

Haha, of course, CSJ's views are very Lockean while our MM's are rather Hobbesian. It makes them natural rivals.
Actually I think the question is kinda misprinted anyway. It should read, "Is the current opposition able to form a capable govt if it wins." This is the question that will pull votes and win international support.

I think opposition will not win, but they may have more percentage of representation in the parliament. And when that happens, we may see like what we seen in other countries parliament, numerous oppositon parties fragmented throughout the parliament, this will give way to fight, quarrel and disorientation. Members can also switch side for the better and there will be a struggling of power.
In the end, singapore will not be like what we are seeing, instead of focusing on national issues and helping its citizens, members of parliament will be more focus on power retention and struggle.

I personally have more respect for Workers Party, the SPP and yet to know the RP better, for at least they took the trouble to work within our society's laws, going out to meet the people and solving their daily issues, being and doing what a political party that seeks to change minds and hearts should do.
What is the worth of the respect of a X-rated intellect, who will hog the PAP's line of thoughts and pretend to praise the other political parties for working within Singapore Law, but will overlook the indecent lawlessness in the PAP actions towards innocent Singaporean, who are no more then social activists with the interest of Singaporeans in their hearts ?
What law is the X-rat thinking, when the Attorney-General will re-interprete the laws to protect the Singapore Ministers - who happened to trangressed the laws that are to be applied equally to everyone Singaporean ?
What law is the X-rat respecting when the PAP cannot even respect the letters of the Town Council Act that require the Government to liase with the Town Councils in implementing any plans for the Constituencies, but will indulge in petty politics to have their own PAP grass-root adviser to perform the same tasks ?
What kind of idiocy does the X-rat want Singaporeans to believe in while he pretend that such idiocy is normal in its character ?
But what had Dr Chee done? Outlawlery, inciting naive others to perform civil obedience, selling his bare arse on youtube appealing to President Obama for help! I speak only as my birthright as a citizen of my homeland, the land of our forefathers who sacrificed much for us so that we may live all in peace and prosperity, and face any crisis together and not be divided as they once were.
How pathetic the efforts of a true liar must take in attempting to make a half-hearted attempt at turning the tables onto others for its own treacherous effort to destroy any alternative political parties to protect its devotion to the PAP ?
The X-rat would have been more convincing if it had simply been more forthright in staying with its PAP agenda - why should it be concerned about the political platforms of the Alternative Parties ?
Is there any need for the X-rat to even respect the WP and SPP, or even to get to know RF - when his own X-rat PAPa knows more about them, then it possibly can ?
If at all, the pseudo-politics of the X-rat has been exposed for its deceit in attempting to sow discord by taking sides amongst the different alternative political parties, even as it stand firmly in defense of the PAP.
Yet the X-rat will put up a pretentious front to claim to "face any crisis together and not be divided as they once were".
Our forefathers will surely curse at the X-rat for claiming that they were divided, when in actual fact they have resolutely trusted LKY's call for merger with Malaysia, even as LKY had arrested all his opponents to silence the doubts raised.
The sad part is now known in the short-lived merger that vindicated LKY's opponents, but their vindication is drowned in sorrow by their long term solitary confinement for more then 10 to 30 years - under false charges.
With its self-declared position as an insignificant "No-Body" - the X-rat may as well be recruited by the Korean glamour girls as the main act in their hit song.

When you look at PAP, you see an example of shrewd political manuevering, making use of Lin Chin Siong, rising to power first, then outmanuvering him. That is politics!
With such little and disunited opposition strength, no wonder PAP doesn't really have to please the people they are ruling. The alternatives just won't work either!

Patience will finally pay off.What you see today, may not necessarily be a continuing scenario - as was seen in past elections pacts amongst the various Alternative Political Parties.
As much as there are human egos to be placated in the various alternative political parties, there are just as many to be found in the incumbent Ruling Party which remain suppressed so long as the Old Man continue to hang around.

Well, they are not wrong in any sense to say that politics is the most dirtiest, Uncle Lim or Chia were good in their days, but they lack the understanding that politics is dirty and you need to watch your back at all times, the differences in Chinese and western education is that Chinese advocate brotherhood or sisterhood in my case, a very close relationship that vow to struggle together in blood and sweat. But the western condition of education do not advocate to that closeness, it teaches shrewd way of management more than ethical way of management. No one is a brother or sister, but only colleagues. LKY understood that, he was cambridge trained, therefore, uncle lim and chia or others had failed miserably to understand the implication of politics in a British control state with a Cambridge trained lawyer governing it.

The way the PAP is playing around with oppositions thru praising and supporting on of them once a while and then turn around to praise the other, only bring about more disunity in them, opposition must therefore be smart, they must all set a common objective and be clear about it, otherwise, when one get manipulated, the other start to go offensive/defensive and so on...which ultimately, delight the PAP

Don't worry,be happy.Things will change for the better.If we don't try,we will forever not know what is waiting at the other end.Whether its failure or success we must overcome the fear of trying out something new.This is what the present set of leaders always tell and want the ppl to do.
Therefore we must show the teacher that we've grown up and be able to change things and they will be very happy,I suppose.

Should be able to... but its too early to talk about it now.... if opposition wins i guess only WP can make it cos during the last election , the votes for WP & PAP in aljunied is a fair share , 50:50 , if WP take a step more to win Aljunied means WP conquered HG & aljunied. 1 GRC & 1 SMC. As for SDP , can get out of politics , the WORST opposition in Singapore... perhaps SDA & WP can take over SDP to challenge PAP instead.....
