I can't believe the guy's talking about cheaper, better and faster. In a real labour union, the members would have dumped him into a trashcan and rolled him down a slope. We need a minimum wage structure in place to protect the low-income workers, whats the point in training them if you're gonna pay them the same. There is no such thing as a upturn for them, they are forever in a downturn. Singapore is already ranked 2nd in the world in rich - poor income gap.

Seriously, nobody sees the irony of a million dollar salaried minister without portfolio telling workers to be "cheaper" , "better" and "faster" ?
I just want public transport to be cheaper, better and faster. can or not?

Anyway your government is run by a certain motto that is Be happy or we kill you!lol I must admit that nowadays the dogs haven't been that active on the internet calm before the storm? lol.
Hey, bro, I am a gal. I have no fear for I speak the truth. There are far too many people share the same sentiment, views and facts with me, I am not alone. Just that some of them have no access to internet to post. Thanks for feeling for us as a foreigner.
I am tired and sick of seeing people from the lower income suffer non stop. While they overpay themselves with world class and highest salaries in the world of politics, here we are we have locals who suffer earning low salaries to struggle to cope with surviving in Singapore. There are insensitive, heartless people who condemn this group of people by telling them if they don't like it to get lost.
With the words from botak finance minister that he is going to do something to wages across the board, I am afraid he will urge govt and private companies to further reduce the salaries of the low income Singaporeans while they the ruling party continues to raise the costs of living.

in the first place, have you ever thought why Singapore want to hire foreigners in the first place?

You should direct this question of yours to your beloved PAP and not me. I am not the one who encourage them to come here neither am I the one who employ them.
Period.
MM believes that the implementation of minimum wage will lead to structural unemployment as companies will seek to find cheaper means of production, e.g. through mechanization. (extracted from http://kentridgecommon.com/?p=5534)
The above is purely rubbish. Hahahaha, he talked as if he is so ignorant - now as it is without minimum wage in Singapore, there are MNCs relocating to other countries and so on.
Talk crap for what, he just should admit he is not interested in protecting the rice bowls for locals la.
Rubbish from the bloody sickening, inconsiderate, senile evil oppressive old man.
To the low income group of locals: "You die your business!"
We are waiting for his demise.
Everytime up pay
Everytime want money
Only interested in making profits and care less for the people right?
Sounds like the British East India Company ruling Singapore before 1867.
I studied this in Sec 1 History last time.
Hahaha...

How sure are you what you studied in school about the British EIC is not propaganda to brainwash locals? The ruling party has lots of negative things to say about other countries other parties and Singapore but never admit they are making mistakes and never apologise to us for any wrong policies.

That's why I'm trying to say that the PAP sounds like the 19th Century EIC.
History repeats itself again. Gaining liberty from UK and yet rule just like them once again!

Actually the ruling party may say what they want about the brit rule, i have old relatives who prefer the brits to rule than the pay and pay. They told me no need to pay when see doctors in the hospitals. They prefer brits coz those people at that time were well taken care of by the brits.
Newspaper report today says wages will increase on average 3% next year.
But minister says workers must be cheaper.
So how?

Even death penalty for drug trafficking is also part of propaganda what!
Not surprised it's because they are useless and worthless that's why they got hanged for the slightest compulsion.

This I am not sure if it is too much for death penalty.

It seems that Lim Swee Say's education does not seem to have gone beyond the lollipop stage at Kindergarten.
It is not surprising to hear the contents of his speech with his Singlish intonation - are so simplified to the level of speaking to toddlers - that it becomes jarring to the ears.
Listening to a short delivery of his speech is already simply insufferable, it is a miracle that anyone can sit through his entire speech.
Recent study shows Singapore has one of the worst income distribution in the world. Also the percentage of GDP that goes to profit is one of the highest in the world and the percentage going to labour is the lowest - the whole country is run for profit with very little going to the people! So they want to pay the people even less?
Originally posted by mlmersrlosers:the govt only knows to create jobs which doesnt value add and pay that doesnt reflect our education level (we paid so much for studying) Furthermore aint singapore based on meritocracy? Yet they say we r picky.
I credit them for others such as setting up tough legislation to keep singapore a safe place. But other than that, I cant think of any. On the other hand, the govt had failed in handling its internal affairs. They chose to turn a blind eye on them and continue to think that nothing’s wrong with their policies.
For example, another NTUC (super market) was setup and created 500 jobs. But these are cashiers, stock labourers etc. Leave them to the unskilled foreigners. While they continue to be bosses and expect us to accept non value added jobs w/o minimum wage(hour rate $5 to $6) no educated singaporeans would accept.
The working force in singapore is different from those in the past. They are more educated and had more aspirations. Instead of seeing it as an inevitable issue because of their meritocratic polies, they see it as a problem. Instead of considering and adopting policies to improve lives of the people, they want to suppress people with their “do or die your business” attitude. “Got peanuts eat better than no peanuts. Anyway you only eat peanuts”
Industries such as the finance sector, do we really need so many FTs?
Singapore really short of Talents? With so many graduates per year, I dun think so. FTs will only bring misery and dissentment to educated singaporeans with the cost of living rising so sharply. I still feel like the bowl of noodle that costs me $1.50 is only like yesterday’s price.
You are right. They are paying Officer post at $1,1000 for diploma holders, hhahahahha.
