Education and real critical work skills and thinking is a big failure in Singapore. The big emhpasis on paper qualifications to impress Investors had backfired. The signs were there for so many years but yet ignored
And coupled with the fact that Locals have to go for endless NS duties for 10 years serving as a big distraction have added to the current population now.

Most sporeans join the gov or stat board...........there isnt really much sporeans goin into multi national corporations or local non -gov related companies.the reason being that the effort placed into work might not be worth the monthly salary.

singapore has skills,,,,,,,,just that most immigrated already.take the trainer in spore who trained me in computer programming,she left spore n immigrated to nz before it shut its doors to all immigrants.
take my senior guys who had 12-30 years expeience....they immigrated out of spore too.....
why did they leave?poor treatment by companies they were in,poor salary scale...as compared to the spore back in 1970s......u said it...they were paid better better and had better quality life in the 70;s but after that....spore wasnt attractive anymore.even the best restaurants closed down and immigrated overseas too.

most paid worthy job from MNC already departed from SG...left the symbolic few "regional roles" to cater for SEA. -

First they tell us that they have world class education system, then now they tell us that we are underskilled that we have to import foreign talents to make up the numbers.

I recall last time, they used to show surveys stating that singaporean workers were among the best and most competitive.
Fast forward to today, ministers claim singaporean workers are all unproductive and have no skills etc etc.

Something is gravely wrong.
Maybe management are getting paid millions of dollars eroding the productivity of ordinary workers.
Workers can't be unproductive, they are already working 12 hour shifts with no OT claim, some doing 2-3 positions previously held by 3 person.

Singapore workforce skills is nothing to crow about. Its mainly monotonous repetitive jobs that do not require any form of critical thinking...And add to the fact of master and slave mentality, long hours low pay all add to the declining productivity the last few years.
