There have been lots of failed revolution, but then there are lots of successful revolutions. American Civil War and French Revolution, if not for the storming of the Bastile, I think France would still be solely for the benefit of Louis XVI and he would have made the Palace of Versailles out of gold.
french revolution? the economics between countries of those days were much simpler.
american civil war had two camps and if either one took power, u can be sure there are capable people to take the helm.
Looking back, the ruling party have change. Nothing remains the same.
Good turn bad, bad get worse.
.... when to change?
...or simply ignore and do nothing.
It's one's choice.

I think what Bear was trying to say is not that the revolutions were unsuccessful, but that the aftermath of their success didn't bring in an age of prosperity either and often brought with it an age of bloodshed and suffering.

well change must come but definitely nt when opposition have little experience and still weak. When they have 3/8 of the seats the nex elections and they consolidate on that, let the people see what they can do and then we get the confidence and they build on that.

Don't worry, when the dust settles, there will be people coming out to help.
Define economics simpler? Trade is still trade, folks have being doing it for ages, even when no currency existed, folks were still able to use cigarettes to trade.

and you?
what do you have to lose?
i personally don't have much, i don't need much, and frankly, i'm a simple bear at heart.. with simple needs..
btw.. the storming of the Bastille? you romanticise it.. there was a lot of blood spilt..
and after that, even more blood was spilt... innocent blood spilt by those who decided that their neighbour should lose their right to life because they were not "revolutionaries"
and really.. do you have the right to make the decisions to "lose everything" for others?
one of the main tenants of democracy is that the majority cannot vote away the rights of the minority.. that is so basic even the bleached zombie Lau Lee knew it.. he said that your right to swing your arms about ends where my nose begins..
so, if your neighbour disagrees with you, and doesn't want to destroy, would you burn his house down?
if so, then i would say that it is not democracy or anything, but a blind rage fuelled by fascism and selfishness..
and that same blind rage leads you to a vulnerablity where your fellow rioters will probably hate you somewhere along the line and lynch you.. it happened in the French Revolution.. it happens in almost every revolution...
we are alrdy in the internet age but WP and RP have hardly taken steps to engage the young online.
Only SDP is more active but their reach is severely limited. Go and ask the young adults and teens who the secretary general of SDP is and if u're lucky, they will say CSJ. Ask further if they know he was a neurologist before and they will ask "Is it??"
LOL!

I know you fear your wealth being destroyed by oppositions being voted in, I empathized with you.
Blind rage? Sorry, don't think I have any blind rage, just reason and logic. I can't do anything when you mistaken reason and logic with blind rage. You are entitled to your opinions about PAP and everything else, no matter how wrong they seemed to be.
Like I said, change doesn't go down with folks who had it good with this current regime. If you go ask around in Eastern Europe, where the communist regime used to rule and was overthrown. I am sure there are some who still wish that they were under the communist rule, because though many are marginalised by communist rule, there are some who benefited from it.
**Since when did I mention anything about rioting?
Can you quote me saying that, else don't put words in my mouth. If anybody is flying into a blind rage, it's you, your rage failed to make you see logic and erroneously read my post.

If you think that Singaporean owe the government a living than you should Quit. Basically you can't take the chanllenge if you think the people owe the government a living.
Or the people have unreasonable expectation....that is because the governing political party has compared itself to World standard.
Like i say if you cannot take it QUIT....In the US the GOP was voted out because the American don't accept what they did in both foreign polices and domestics.
The first generation politician has served the first and second generation Singaporean well. But the 3rd and 4th generation is asking their elected official for a deliveration.
The rule of the game is the party that delivered survived. The political party that turn its own people are doomed to fail.
Good luck.....
Are you kidding me?
U addressed your whiney shit to EVERYONE who works in the government? Do you know how many people that categorisation consists of, how ridiculously varied and wide and general to the point of stupidity that is? Do you know you're talking about how many different agencies of different levels, how many different departments, from the ministries (about 19) to the stat boards which number over 100 to the armed forces (which have about 10,000 regulars) to the People's Association, to the CDCs to the Prime Minister's Office to the National Bank?
From the prime minister to the chief of Army to the friendly 50 year old Aunty librarian in your neighbourhood library who's been at her job for the past 30 years to the stupid no brain toads in SCDF to the tens of thousands of dumbo teachers in primary schools who signed on to the MOE cos they can't get a job after graduating from dumping ground NUS Arts to the ah-lian kindergarten teacher in PAP who did some education cert in ITE to the 55 year old NParks Landscaping gardener uncle to the Attorney's General at the AG Chambers to the Chief Justice to the 50 year old aunty clerk who works in the AGC to the kindly sweet 50 year old aunty PA of the minister of defence?
Yes I have seen that sweet 50 year old PA of Defence minister around in Gombak when I went there once. She could your mother or aunt, if you weren't such a lowlife and retard, so I highly doubt she's related to you.
You might as well address to "people in Singapore" or to "earthlings".
Fucking retard.
Your speech should be directed to A POLITICAL party. Not to the people working for the GOVERNMENT. Fucking fucktard, must be one of those FARMER RETARDS who don't know what is partisan and non-partisan, has never heard of the word and has lived under a rock all his life like a fucking loser farmer worm.
Education really does separate the dumb from the dumber.
well not for me man, this way of replacing the govt with a weak opposition party and "assuming" that the right people will step in to help.
not for me.

Then change will never happen in Singapore, or it won't be in your lifetime.
It always goes back to square one, "we don't have a strong opposition, PAP has better candidates".
Most of the capable folks would not risk going into politics, because they have a good life doing what they do. Why risk being persecuted by the regime? How many would trade their Bungalows and million dollar salaries to go against PAP?
In life, there is always never a right person for anything. I have an idea of how I want my gf or life partner to be like, but will I ever meet the ideal right person?

Current leadership also rubbish.
Temasek GIC lose billions, same fuckers in power pay themselves millions, flood us with foreigners also not for me.
There is no right ideal 100% man for the job, most of us learn earnestly while we are doing it.
But it's a steep learning curve for the opposition, not one which cannot be surmounted.
Else suffer we will when Singapore is turned into another PRC island (which it is already turning into).

U seem to get it down-pat, something i do laud because your compatriots in this thread seem way dumber than you, the TS is one example.
If u have a lot to lose, like me, a lot of people I know, a lot of my friends and 66.6% of Singaporeans, you tend to value stuff and feel a sense of belonging. Why do you think the refugees of civil-war torn countries or the little kids who saw their siblings get blown up by land mines in Cambodia don't feel much sense of belonging? you, my friend are akin to them. And I'm heartened you finally got the formula right.
When someone hates his country, its cos he has nothing to lose; He's got nothing. Bleak future due to his inherent lack of qualities that are in demand (eg Angel3070), feel 'marginalized', whole day kao peh *most likely jobless hence got time*, No family, nothing.
Suicide is a good analogy. People only finally do it when they feel they have nothing to live for.
What you believe in and how you behave towards your surroundings is a statement on how much you are worth. And I can see that TS is worth..almost nothing hahah.

To some "Nothing venture, nothing gain".
But the majority "I don't venture, I won't lose what I'd gain".
That's the different between one with a bungalow and the one with a hundred bungalows.

I am still waiting for bear to quote me on my blind rage rioting.
So who has blind rage now?
Too blind to read my post carefully?

Yah. That's why they prefer the status quo. Why risk your fortunes for the rights and freedom of your fellow men? For a selfish person, he would be wondering what he gets in return, or what he will lose.

Are you claiming now that you and the other opp party cronies (note I use 'other') are richer than the average guys in Singapore?
So freaking funny!
Who is this insidestory?
I think he has trouble keeping up with the discussion.

I suppose Japan now is in a war torn country, Taiwan has their sons working as construction workers and daughters as maids?
If you start to think more, perhaps you can see the horizon.
Wonder is the beginning of wisdom.
The kiasu kiasee mentality is due to living under 50 years of repressive rule and also due to indoctrination in the education system.
This is how PAP secures their rule for so long; by creating a slave mentality among the people. This is also why Singapore can never be a great country.
Those people in the 1950s who were not under the repressive rule of PAP or trained under PAP education system, their mentality is different.
They have the courage and will to fight.

u and the like of you are such dumb farmer toads if I was the head of strategist for PAP I won't be sweating at all Its really no competition. I think Bear may know
BTW, there's a good chance that at the end of all this, you live in a walkover constituency and can really, do ...nothing. my family has several properties, we can easily register with different addresses with the voting office and vote. last I checked, all the constituencies we fall in are votable. I'm so going to exercise my votes to piss the retards off.

That's what you get when you install a dictator with absolute power.
In the past, the older generations were easily "convinced", perhaps due to their lack of knowledge. But as all these elderly move on, the strength of the party will also die off with it. Why do you think they need to learn hip hop to please the younger generations?
