this mabel tan is really silly. her family was able to upgrade from 1-rm to 4-rm because her family income have increased as she and her siblings have grown up and starting working and not because of hdb housing policies!
anyway, she could be one of those ghost writers employed by you-know-who.

She already said for "40 years" meaning her family bought the place in the 70s when prices for a 1 room flat was like 5k?
Assuming prices appreciated to say 50k after 20 years, they would essentially have made a "profit" of 45k from the sale of their 1 room flat to buy another bigger flat say costing $100k.
The "profit" of 45k would be used to partially pay for the 100k flat - meaning their loan was only for 55k and so on for the usual "upgrading exercise"to their current 5 room flat.
Problem now is nobody can even afford to start buying their first house at a low price unlike 30 years ago as prices spiral out of control.
People who use the logic from this writer must mean they believe that HDB flat prices will be 2-3 million dollars 20-30 years from now for people to "upgrade" like how she did in the past.
That might be possible, who knows what the future holds.
But that would mean singaporeans' monthly average salary will also need to be 20-30k in the future for them to "afford" those kinds of prices.
Will that happen?
the pseudonynm (is it correct spelling) writer does not state whats her income and occupation is and her hubby as well. I suppose to apply for HDB loans or subsidy, combined income must be less than 8000 per month, so it must be assumed that.
the inflation of 2000 and 2009 are not quite the same. if every year take inflation into account, prices at 2009 is more expensive than 2000.

yeh haha lumpa is supposed to "support" the lan but now lumpa wack the lan.
PAP is number 1 at utilising euphemisms.
Dont need to give many examples, but here's one:
"Negative wealth added" waaa. wtf.
so ill buy drink for $2. and i say ive added negative 2 dollars to my wallet. nice right?
when mah bow tan is in charge, expect prices to rise. Look at COE, ERP and now HDB. He has the midas touch for the govt.
This sort of shithead minister will be looked back upon in history as imposing hardships among the common sgporean.

The state monopoly of media must be destroyed. The suppression of information must end.

I thought it's the same shit?
Is there new PAP propaganda nowadays? I'm not sure.
I saw this comment from another forum.
This guy was wondering why PRs get to buy HDB resale flats while he couldn't, as a single guy aged 35 and below.
He said he had served his NS, did his reservist and paid taxes like every other Singaporean but yet was not allowed by law to buy a HDB resale flat.
I guess citizenship does have its privileges.
