Retirement is not about relaxing in some exotic places, it is about seeing your childrens fully grown and working,..full of grandchildrens, ..able to enjoy family loving with your life time partner and finally, to ask onself, what hv you contribute to the society.

but i like to counter your statement, the question is simple economy term, if there is no demand, there will be no supply. The richie sgmen demand for it, naturally there will be a stream of supply chain,..and as the supply getting lesser and lesser, sgmen will have to spent more due to diminishing of supply.

Its not that we're not prepared for retirement. I somehow feel that we think we are so prepared for retirement that we spend most of what we save already, thinking it's all gonna be recouped later, which is more often than not.
I suppose the root is that we spend too much -- I blame it on material world. Eg. How many of us change handphones like changing underwear?

well. with reference to the older folks. post 40s, i dont think so.
Their concern is if they can put food on the table tomorrow or the day after, especially for those who have children to support, and also have their parents to support.
so, ill put my point this way. The root isnt the fact that we spend too much, its that the rate of inflow of income isnt proportional to the rate of outflow. Or putting it in simpler terms, not enough money to sustain a family.
