I will not contest the decision made by the judiciary, for I am not of such learned status.
I will not contest the claims made by the executives against Dr Chee, nor his charge against them or the judiciary.
I will only comment on the laws proposed, made and legislated by our elected representatives, freely elected in an open election. And that is the right of assembly.
Is it not always a rational policy that prevention is better than cure? Must we wait till something wrong happens, then wring our hearts in anguish and hindsight that it should have been prevented? Had not the racial ethnic riots taught us nothing, during the formative years of our independence?
The right of assembly had NEVER been denied to us citizens in any way. We meet up with friends, enjoy recreation at faciallities with no encroachment from the authorities. Families freely visit each other across the length and breath of our nation unhindered in any way.
However, due to often highly charged emotional nature of politics, where emotions are at times manipulated to serve different ends across characteristics spectrums, our legislators only sought for more responsibilities to be excercise by such politicians - ruling party or opposition, or even the general public - BY APPLYING FOR A PERMIT.
IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO APPLY FOR A PERMIT? IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO ENSURE POLITICIANS OR WANNABES TAKE SOME FORM OF RESPONSIBLITY? WHY SUCH STUNTS, DR. CHEE???!!!
If only you had received some exposure in the experiences that SDP gained from the ‘PAP’s creative ways to deny Political Rights to Opposition Parties’ (*1) - you would not have made such a bald display of your political virginity.
Some petty political acts by the PAP directed against the Singapore Opposition included the following.
When every PAP MPs go about planting trees with so much press coverage - ’Chiam See Tong was prevented from planting a tree in his Potong Pasir Constituency on Tree Planting Day’ (*2).
This concerns only a tree to be planted by every elected Member of Parliament on a day that is a national event held annually - and it led to a disgraceful debate in Parliament on such mundane issue.
This is not about the Rights of Citizens or the non-elected Opposition Members.
It concerns the Rights denied to an Elected Representative of a Constituency, where the citizens had elected him.
Other disgraceful acts from the PAP include the HDB refusing to give any space to the Elected MP to hold their "Meet the People Sessions" - while the HDB will allow the PAP to build rooms to serve as air-conditioned offices, the Elected Opposition MPs are expected to conduct their work in the open space of an HDB void deck.
When the PAP dare to abuse the constitution to deny the Elected Members of Parliament their legal rights - is there anything to prevent the PAP from bastardising the Singapore Constitution that disenfranchise Singaporeans politically ?
Are you naive to believe that family or friendly gatherings do not have any opportunity to end in emotional outbursts and violence, and that you are certain that political assemblies will result in violence due to the emotionally charged atmosphere ?
From the number of indoor political sessions that managed to be conducted over the last five years, has there been any violent outburst or ensuing riots in the streets ?
Do you think that the PAP has ever applied for Police Permit to conduct their regular walk-about with a huge entourage, or when they hold events such as charity walks and any similar events that attract so much publicity to the PAP ?
It is the skilled practice of the PAP in the art of political shenanigan - to sabotage and prevent all efforts by the Opposition to gain positive publicity, and in the process to manouevre the Opposition into a negative light, without exposing the black hands of the PAP behind the scene.
If you believe that the right of assembly has never been denied to you or your friends - then try doing it with a message that you wish to publicise while in that assembly.
It is now illegal to even conduct a public protest as a single person - when previously it was illegal to be in an assembly of five.
Should we expect any more stunts from the PAP to deny Singaporeans the Political Space to exercise our Rights ?

To cut it short, what Dr.Chee is doing is fighting for HIS OWN political rights and political survival.
It's got nothing to do with us. It is not our civil rights that were trampled. We had never been denied of our civil liberties, to conduct civil activities. When acting outside such civil activities, into the realm of political affairs, is it thus not better to apply for permits, make the public security apparatus prepared and ready for any eventuallties?
The issue is not about who is denied of speech, but rather, who had acted ABOVE THE LAW, AS AN OUTLAW, DEEMED HIMSELF INVIOLATE, to manipulate others to serve his political purposes, and to install himself as a ruler of our lives.
Is this who we want to rule over us, the man who break laws to get his voice heard, use others to secure himself on the throne? How many other laws will he attempt to break?
Politics are dirty biz. I agree that the opposition parties have a much more difficult challenge in a face off fight with the ruling party. So too were the ruling party when they fought against the thieving brits and commies. And rightly so that the opposition be boxed in, the way thieving brits, bloodlusty commies and corrupt rulers boxed the ruling party prior to independence.
Whomever within the law,can think and get out of the box, a box called the constitution and amended by our freely elected representatives as legislators, deserves to rule.
Only thing is, whoever he is whom can outwit our founding fathers will either turn out to be an enlightened ruler or the most tyrannical despot, once power is in his hands. Let us all citizens not be blinded by emotions, but be ruled by logic and reason, and watch the soap operas and circus being played by the current performers, instead of being used as tools for their ascension.

Anyway, his action helped the public security officers by maintain their jobs and creating more job for them.

harlot, you are better off serving your chee ko pek clients than come here to talk to us about politics. If you don't know Mr Ma then admit it and shut up. Forever coming here to disrupt discussion.
Who are you that we should believe where taiwan politics is concerned, you are only good at bootlicking the PAP. ........

Why did you not claim that Nelson Mandela went to jail for the sake of fighting to gain his own rights in Apartheid ?
In the same breadth, you might as well claim that Aung San Suu Kyi has allowed herself to be confined for the last 13 years in her stubborn battle with the Myanmese Military Dictators simply to forced her views on the Military Regime.
Yes, even Mahatma Ghandi's principles were all about his own personal stake in India's volatile racial divide between the Hindus and the Muslims.
Was Chia Thye Poh insistence on a principle of truth that got him locked up for 32 years to be seen as a battle for his rights or to expose the fraud in LKY's accusation ?
If Dr Chee is to succeed in exposing the desparation of LKY's PAP to use the worst method to stamp him down, he would have achieved part of his goals.
When Dr Chee is able to get the LHL Government to bend a little, and accomodate the growing demands for a politically awakened and more concious Singapore population, he would have achieved another part of his goals with his political activism.
What do you know about your political rights ?
Is there a separate set of civil liberties for Dr Chee which he claimed is missing, and one set of civil liberties especially for people like you ?
It is obvious that you know nothing about civil liberties that you are entitled to.
If you believe that outlaws should not rule us, then it is best that you study the political and judiciary records to understand why "outlaws, and those who are above the laws, and those who abuse the laws to protect their interests" continue to rule over us for 52 years.
If you have no objections to the existing outlaws - why should you make exception in the case of Dr Chee ?
If you believe that your civil liberties have not been trampled and your political rights have always been with you - why should you see politics as being dirty ?
Theiving Brits and Commies ?
The PAP Government has praised the Brits for leaving behind a functioning system of government compared to the Dutch, Spanish and Portuguese Colonial Government.
If you believe that those Singaporeans who were accused by LKY to be Communists -trying to emulate China's Communist Party - you should look again with the benefit of 52 years of hindsight comparing China today under Communist Rule, to the rule of Singapore by LKY and his PAP for 52 years.
Obviously, you will not notice that China prospered to boost their huge reserves without their President or PM demanding that their annual wages should be commensurate with the Private Sector - compared to Singapore self-proclaimed elites demanding their meritocratic abilities should be compensated millions annually.
Is it not surprising that Communist China is introducint democratic practices at the village, county and provincial levels - even as Singapore attempt to divide this small island into more constituencies to suit the LKY's plans to dominate politics ?
With you blind faith to the PAP's communist methods used to perpetuate their own political security - you have remained ignorant to the sensitivities of China's Central Government in devolving direct State involvement in commerce and industries that had resulted in massive corruption.
The private sector in China's economy is NOT a PAP type sham entity where the private corporation is but another name taking over the previous role of certain government services with the capital structure being funded by the government and the directors being political appointees.
For one who claims the use of logic, it is amazing that your distorted logic have overwhelmed your common sense.
Yes, you will certainly prefer Singaporeans to be mere onlookers, instead of being passionate about their roles as Citizens, upholding the Singapore Pledge that has been solemnly recited as an Oath for 44 years.
When come to the defense of Singapore - we can depend on your logic and not your emotion to be passionate in defending Singapore.

If the resident "hum" do not indulge in the daily ritual of polluting the SgForums with all the ignorant and flippant remarks - can anyone recognise the "hum" that deliberately hang out of the shell ?
What contributions have the "hum" made that benefit anyone in Singapore ?
Provide jobs, or simply to spread more ignorance ?
Pack you bags and return to your native Taiwan - do we need a Taiwanese to tell Singaporeans what to do ?

A wall ot text.
To prove what?
What are your points, at the end of your rhetoric theatrics?
Dr Chee is a Nelson Mandala living in an absolute racist state?
Dr. Chee is another Sui Ky living in a despotic illegal regime?
Dr. Chee is a Gandhi living in a criminal Brit rapacious dictatorship?
Why do you persist in delusion, and spread your delusions to others?
You are obviously an intelligent person, and by that meaning you can read and write, why make an irrational exception to support an obvious outlaw like Dr.Chee, who only fight for his political survival and not for our society's survival, such as increasing our wealth, job creation and improving on social needs and necessities?

Obviously, your reading ability has limited you to seeing only a wall of text, and the intellect that you possess with your remarkable reading ability has limited your logic - as seen with your mathematical conclusions.
Delusions only exist in those who have no clear vision of the future.
With low level of intelligence with simple readings, is there any prospect of you having any ability to have passion for a better future ?
The outlaw is already in office - one who deliberately bend the choices in a Referendum to fulfill personal ambitions; - one who will make false accusations and abuse the law to lock anyone for 32 years; - one who will not even respect the sacred Constitution by abusing the dominance of Parliament to bastardise the spirit of the Constitution to build a flourishing society; - one who will dominate over the executive, the legislative and the judiciary to ensure that his will cannot be thwarted; - one who will not allow manipulate the process to ensure his own political existence at the expense of the nation; - one who will deny all the Rights as clearly expressed in the Constitution as well as being a signatory to the United Nation Convention; - one who will not fulfill the Oath of Office as a Prime Minister of Singapore.
Are you in a self-denial mode ?
Ignoring the blatant insults,
I remembered once when I attended the final interview for RSAF pilot trainning. The interviewer asked:-
From records, you have many relatives living up north, espacially in Malacca. Are you prepared to drop the bomb there if a need is required in an outright declaration of war?
My answer:- Bombing missions will mean specifically selected targets such as ammo dumps, military production centres. Should my relatives be there, they will be considered 'collateral damage' in an official war zone.
I will not hesitate for even one second to activate the release trigger to drop my bombs, for it would mean saving million of other lives and stopping the war.
Does my answer makes me less a human, an outlaw, a murderer, in self denial of realities that millions of lives are at stake?
Atobe, human perfection does not exist. There are difficult choices one has to make, at times even daily, for the sake of others. We put the ends and weigh the means to look at the results. The one who made the decision will have to suffer the consequences, not any of us.
I am not saying we should be onlookers and let others do the dirty work. Rather, we must act on more critical areas to elevate lives, and not be used as tools for other's political ambitions.
Seating on the throne may help solve society's woes, but it is also a double edge sword in that the one who seats there may turn out far worse than we can imagine, more so when the signs are already clear to see now at the extend he would go for his own self glory.
But that's only my, as you allude and claim, my low intelligence perceptions. The question remains -

Well. After reading the walls of text that I usually like posting, I think you both are intelligent people.
Basically, each of you have your own points of view (both of which are actually valid imho), and I am honestly a little too young and know too little about politics right now to comment on both of your arguments.
But may I please interject a thought.
Many of my seniors have great respect for Mr J B Jeyaretnam, but not all of them think the same of Mr Chee. Do both of you understand why?

What about your views on JBJ and Chee?
What about old man lee, his family and PAP?

He will be very pleased.
quoting Dejomel
"why make an irrational exception to support an obvious outlaw like Dr.Chee, who only fight for his political survival and not for our society's survival, such as increasing our wealth, job creation and improving on social needs and necessitie"
a rather valid point. dun u think? Hate tend to blind one vision....
I wonder wat old man lee ever did to anyone directly? till the point that they blame it on him for anything went wrong....
