Reservists Still Need MINDEF okay for Further Studies?

  After sacrificing 2 years of the life, reservists wanting to further their studies other than NTU,NUS & SMU are still at the whims of MINDEF's approval. Their is discrimination on the institutions of higher learning.
  
  "NSman studying full time at the local polytechnics, NTU, NUS and SMU will be posted into the Institute of Higher Learning (IHL) whereby they will only be called up during their holiday period so as not to disrupt their study curriculum.
  
  NSman studying in SIM will be required to apply for a deferment online. To apply for Deferment from your ICT, please submit an online application through MyDeferment module in the NS Portal."

  No need to ok not ok, just apply your deferment, so MINDEF know whether or not can call you up for reservist. Save their trouble, save your trouble.

  But for those who further studies locally, solly hor, no escape from reservist. Those study overseas confirm defer till finish one.

  Even better - when I got back to Singapore, they forgot I existed even when I contacted them.

  its a formality. my deferment was immediate, just click click click and you get the ''congratulations you have been granted deferment''

  actually it's not guranteed, nor even the norm. and yes even NUS undergrads you still see them going for briefings and what not during the term.

  well it's just a formality. I forgot to do it once and I got a nice personal letter persuading me to remember to defer next time round, or else can kana fine 50 bucks.

  Foreign alien citizens don't have to serve NS or reservist. So too bad. Just obey and be slaves of PAP, while foreign aliens enjoy.

  fark, i want them to call me up so i can clear it all ASAP.

  sux to still do normal reservist even after leaving as a regular.

  its like, same amount of reservist but half the time
