Another thing i dont understand is why LKY,LHL,GCT n Ho Ching dont need to take any course or exams when they get appointed as PM,SM,MM or director of Temasek?
Especially Ho Ching,after losing so much Singaporeans hard earn money in foreign investment,i think she really need to take up some self upgrading course to improve herself.

Yes, you did not quote that, I did. My question here is how can meritocracy exist without social equality. E.g. I can pay to send my son to the "best" private school with the "best" teachers but those who cannot afford must be educated under the so called "bad" teachers. This might not be too true in Singapore but it's just an example.

Which other democratic world leader has appointment by the current PM to sit in a business corporation? Ho Ching, Dhanabalan, former retire IRAS head, etc.....? Since you say there are other democratic world leaders sitting in big private corporations with the help of the President and PM, maybe you should quote some. Maybe you can cite China, Burma, North Korea.....

what course?? sexology or homosexual course?? do not think that they are not learning, at 85yo, LKY is still learning how to use computer and facebook, so are all PAP peoples, but do they have to tell you that they took this and that course?Ho Ching had taken a full practical course in FI, no doubt about it, so realistic that she now understood the risk of Investment after losing billions, do you still want her to take another course??? better dun, if not another few billions from the coffer will be gone. So, after taking her course, she got a few months summer break, now she is back better equipped with knowledge and skill, hope that she do well.

Sg is not alone, it is not their original ideas to get better educated citizens to produce more. Other countries are doing the same. It is wrong to go on this line. The reasons are mainly economics and political. Such narrow thinking is selfish. World population is estimated at 6.7 billion people now and it is already overpopulated. With existing climate warming, there are already severe flooding and dryness in certain parts of earth. Coupled with health problems such as HIV, viruses,etc can planet earth cope with all these? I would like to see changes in world governments, to reduce population growth for the sake of future generations. Look as Sg with 4.8 million people, it is crowded every where you go. Civil societies in each country should press their governments on population growth.

it is ppl like u that is why singaporean need a paper just to get into any job, rather then their abilities to perform well.
sigh.... just how many employer out there hold any papers qualification such as MBA or degree? It is a dog eat dog world out there, if u cant survive, even the mightiest paper amour aint gona help u.

<...too focus on highly educated singaporeans n their descendants, thinking that highly educated singaporeans will produce high quality descendants....> this is lky's belief. i don't think lhl believes in that. it is not that edn is not impt but it is a mistake to be too obessed with grades and paper qualifications. jobs and promotions are given to pple with top grades and paper qualifications regardless of their suitability, aptitude and experience. dedicated workers are rarely given a chance if they don't have the necessary paper qualifications. fixation with grades has also produced an undesirable result: pple with the paper qualification but don't seem to have learned anything. as a result they are unable to apply whatever they learned.

He was saying that HC doesn't even have the proper qualification for the job at hand and here you go telling us that you don't need qualification if you can perform your duties. Let me ask you, if you don't know simple investment terms like IRR, NPV, MIRR, APV, EVA, ROE, etc. How are you able to make the correct investment decisions? You leave it all to your subordinates like what she does and ends up screwing up $50 billions.
If Doctors need certification, surely Fund Managers need certification, surely you won't trust yours funds to a Primary 3 graduate "who can do his job".
HC is working as a CEO of Singapore's largest investment funds, she has no certification in any business related discipline.
Hawker centres cooks also needs to go for food handling certification and you didn't know that.
