If only they had allowed the late Dr Lee Siew Choh's memoirs to be published - after he hurried to complete the details of his draft before his debillating illness overtook his remaining time.
When they had to send an emissary to dissuade the family from publishing the memoirs, can anything else be believeable from authorised and sanctioned publications of what the interpreted history is ?
The other memoir that was stopped from publishing was that from the late Devan Nair, whose family was similarly dissuaded under threat of being tangled in lawsuits for any libellous contents published.
Now, the official mouth piece of Singapore had come in to push up dismal sales numbers, by publishing a front page photo of a chummy group photo of LKY and those whom he had incarcerated - as if all animosity are erased with one event.
Its a farcical comedy of vanquished actors in their twilight years attempting to slip in their last editted paragraphs for posterity sake.
For the victor, it is a PR stunt to rebuild damaged karma but unfortunately could not disguise the opportunity to gloat over those who were ruthlessly incarcerated to secure his own place in a history of his own making.
