Escalating cost of living

Hi, can anyone help me out? I'm doing an econs project and I'd like your input on why you think the cost of living is skyrocketing. I'd like answers to be from an economic perspective rather than a political perspective if you please. But if you really feel the 2 must mix, feel free. Thanks alot

No, kindly do not make assumptions when I did not provoke you in any sort of way. I simply want views because I feel it is interesting to listen to what other people have to say. If you've nothing nice to say please go somewhere else. I really don't need to be arguing with you here

economically speaking, it all about opportunity cost, u want to spend on high end product or just a normal product, basically most Singaporeans are media and marketing experts, they like to source for big, cheap and good product, but usually end up paying higher or getting a bad product deemed to be good.
Prices of goods depend on one spending power with his/her mean, there is alot of difference btw eating at a high end restaurant and a hawker centres, alots of different btw driving a car and taking public transport, a lots of different btw shopping at cold storage and seng siong, and also btw trendy T shirt and Thai makes T shirt. Therefore, one determine her opportunity cost, where she wants to put it, what is her means and where her financial position is..expensive can be inexpensive to some, skyrocket and high inflation can be not true to some who earns 10k, eat at Hawker centres, take bus, live HDB, tour Malaysia and around the region only, buy just can wear clothing, use his thing wisely until wear and tear, etc etc. But to one who earns only 2k per mth, go trendy shopping at ION, cut hair at respected salon, travel to US and Japan, change electronic gadgets like HP and laptop every 6 months, eat at posh restaurant...i think the prices to him is not only skyrocket, it is space rocket to another galatica liao...in any way of speaking, you got to be economical of who you are and where you are,,,then u will not find prices is high, and infact you gain at times from Gst rebate whereby you dun pay much incomparing to those high spenders spending on high class stuff.

Population at 1960 is around 3 billion.
Now we're hitting 7 billion.
We would hit 9 billion at 2050.
I would think why prices are skyrocketing would be obvious.

I'm inclined to think that costs are rising mainly because of greed i.e. people living beyond their means by the way of credit

If you are doing the latter than you don't need to go to school...if you are unable to accept new conclusion so are you learning anything? There are enough Web site matterial to prove your believe.

If you had read my earlier posts you would've realized that I'm asking for your opinion which will lead to new conclusions. The very reason why I'm asking is so that I can gain new conclusions to reseach about.
