temasek lost is nothing going to stop you from using or taking from CPF, yur account still remain the same with the same interest, so, what is the big deal about temasek lost, CPF still oblight it terms and conditions to you. If you dun have CPF, employers will be the most happiest, they dun have to contribute, and what have you got, let said a mere average singapore paid of $2500, with no CPF, per years with 13th month is only 32,500, add average a mth bonus is only 35,000, your expenditure take on an average minimium spending basis will be 1500 per month, total 18000, so you save 17,000 per year, in 40 years of working you saved $680,000..can buy condo meh???? -

what to do, you sayang them, they take advantage of you, old peoples must scold them ok,..then they think and be more able to comprehend...tho i say them, my heart goes to them. But they are worst complain lots of all...if govt is given a chance to legally finishing off like the cambodia genocide, i think they will get rid of all the old peoples and start singapore anew without so much problem -

Nobody is going to stop anybody from buying a half a million dollar flat.
But I am sure you have heard of stories of 40 year old managers earning 6K a month getting retrenched and then have to settle for a 1.5K job (if he is even lucky to get a job) because nobody wants to hire old workers anymore. People seem to think these are very "rare" cases and that their jobs are forever safe.
How to pay for your half a million dollar mortgage loan that still has 20 years to run when that happens?
Singapore is not the Singapore of the 80s and 90s anymore. The massive influx of cheap labour flooding the island only pushes wages down. I don't see real wages moving up anytime because of this endless supply of cheap labour at all levels of society. Be prepared for even more tougher times ahead.

It is bad of you to say that. Unless you can guarantee when you grow old you don't behave like them or your life is perfect with no problems to voice out then it is justified. Never never treat old people in such a way. The govt is cold blooded we need not follow their way. -
but why is the govt pushing the age limit of withdrawal of cpf from 55 to 62? To force singaporeans to pay 7 years more of cpf worth of money before they could retire? And not everyone is able to live up to 62 years of age.

So that CPF don't go bankrupt.
They get to keep 7 more years of our money. And the more people die before 62, the less people CPF needs to pay.
If they want seniors to keep working, they should deal with age discrimination in employments and come up with policies that protect the rights of older workers.
Ofcors, withholding payments is easier than dealing with societal problems.
Just starve the slaves.

Many old people's complains are valid. They buy flat with CPF money. HDB flat prices are not low and subsidised. They take a lifetime to pay. When they are old and retired, they sell flat and hope to have some money to live out their lives but after sell HDB flat cannot rent from HDB, cannot buy subsidised flat unless pay levy. What choice are they left with? They have to buy or rent from open market. This eats into what money they have from flat sale. They end up having to go back to the workforce to make ends meet but at their age, what kind of jobs are available to them? Hard, manual labour for the old bones. It is no joke to be at that age and slogging at manual jobs and being paid meagre wages. They lose all dignity and independence. It is the sad reality for the elderly in Singapore. Our government has done them a great injustice...and this will continue even when we are old. Why mock the old for complaining? We will one day be in their shoes.

No, we should be sitting around a JB nursing home staring blankly at each other in the future.
That is if your kids even have the money to put you there in the first place.

Nice to note that there are still some heart for the oldies.

CPF got its good n bad points,good in the way that it help Singaporeans save up money for the rainy days.Bad is that we cant withdraw it until certain age.
BUT,like everything else that turn Bad more than Good under Lees management,we now can never hope to fully withdraw our CPF anymore.And it is used under Lees poor investment scheme.
