Second generation PR need to serve NS like the local but they can chose to relinquish their status before NS liable age which I have seen people doing it. PR mostly those higher educated n if an applicant got skills or average educational qualification like the poly diploma or ITE higher nitec can get PR, no idea the successful application rate. I think as for buying HDB flat, PR cannot buy new flat but they can only buy resale flat. Most PR these days would prefer to keep their citizenship n some of them used it as a stepping stone to other countries.

Landed car parked outside already clearing show where you go.they buy condo, and pay only the down payment, instalment over 20 years, when the girls leave them, they have to pay the instalment. go to condo can say visit friend in the same block, even go into the life you also don't know where they go.

I recall vaguely last year, there was this PR who wrote to ST forum asking that PRs should be given equal benefits with citizens since they also contribute as much to the economy.
I think she got a lot of flak from online citizens.
I wonder why ST chose to publish her letter to stir up emotions.
Anybody remember the case?

I think the letter is meant for equal rights in buying new HDB flats. Anyway she used to be on scholarship to study nursing in Australia. If u read the paper, MM Lee told us that foreign professional important to the country, considering that many locals refused to give birth. The idea to get foreign professional to come to solve the population is shortage is short term as most of them will go back to their countries or go to other countries.
