Most Singaporean Do not understand ...........The notion that Singapore depended upon export oriented are just the remnant of FDI from the 80s. and 90s. Back than it works for Singapore. liberal trade polices is simply an extension of that same strategy.
To continue expecting this strategy to work for island state is to bury yourself in the hatch. Since the start of 2000 most MNC has gone several round of restructuring it is only a matter of time it exit out from Singapore.
What Singapore govt fail to understand that at the end of the day, Singapore needs its own industry. It need to buffer its own SME, but instead it invest too much on Civil Govt and crowd out talent from the private sectors.
Private sectors are to fence for themseleved.
i agree with the above opinion. the very reason why the ruling party or govt invested heavily in scholars, civil sectors are to keep them in power.
singapore industries can only play the role of supporting other industries and never really carve out a name by themselves.
scholars are only release to the private sector if they fail to make the cut for ministeries position. by then these scholars will have incultivated a govt style of management that could do no right for the private sector. maybe somebody can advice us any scholars are doing well in private sector? as in entrepenurs?

If mid level managers spend 15 yrs managing manufacturing for Asia and if he/She lost their job in one month you want him/her to transit to a Card dealers, skinpy waiterss job???? And that is going to be high skills ???
Not everyone person can be a nurse; not everyone can be a card dealers not even if you send a person to attend Card dealer school in Las Vegas. And new card dealer from Las Vegas are send to remote Casino....to squak and wait for opportunity along the strip. They make minimum hourly wage.
Hello, i went e2i with frens to look for card dealer jobs ok, my frens went for the interview with those Macau Casino Manager and Manageress, the basic pay of a dealer is already 2.5k and the tips from wining peoples can amount to 1 to 1.5 k per month, so in total, a dealer get about 3 to 4 k per month by just initial start, all suitable candidate will either be train in Macau or US with full pay.
the Casino, resort and studio need 20,000 peoples, dealers only take in 200, there are technicians, guards, HRs, Managers, estate officer..etc etc...so many jobs there...if a manager lost her job after 15 years, either the company goes bust or because she never upgrade herself during this past 15 years, old university certificate who want?? so in this free society, you need to make contingent plans for yourself, you just cannot go one and believing you are in a job forever,...remember no more iron rice bowl already..so please, ask the old maid to upgrade and learn new thing and open up her mind to new challenge, otherwise she is history.
and..nobody own her a living ya
