Wat is the use of foresee if cannot do anything?
I foresee I cannot be the next Prime Minister.
I foresee I cannot earn $1 Billion.
I foresee I will die before 1000 years old.
I foresee I need to server my NS.
I foresee PAP will still run the government in the next election.
I foresee LHL will be the next PM in the next election.
I can foresee more things than him.

Why further retrenchment for Singapore even if there are sign of economics recovery.....A new realities and nature of capitalism.
Because Singapore is a useless middle guy that happen to fall out of the Bell curve. A recovery would implies that MNC or global companies that work for Wall Street to meet Wall Street expectation by laying off enough workers so that it profit statements are black enough for Wall Street. The recent rally has nothing to do with employment result. There are still tons of folks unemployed globally. The News media are more interested to project Good news.
A new realities for global price and demand. Because of high energy cost future price will be proportion driven by demand. As such elimination of middle structure.
Our Govt over the years has invested so much time for FDI to solve short term problems but it doesn't invest its money for structure problems in Singapore to strengthen our SME to be local MNC. So each recession Singaporean will have to find ways to make a living.

agree, they should change their economic strategies. they should be encouraging local enterprises rather than enticing mnc with all kinds of perks and incentives; and they themselves competing with local businesses.

maybe MM lee would like to stick to the view of world renowned economist such as marc faber, roubini lor. they predict we are not out of the most servere recession since the great depression. actually the govt should have lotsa information before they make such a comments. EDB might feedback that alot of company are planning on cutting back on investment, NTUC been inform in advance of possibility retrenchment. and survey conducted that SME, MNC would cut staff if not stop hiring.
If US dont come out of recession, singapore has no chance of recovery. the current optimism in stock market and economy are because of the result of govt stimulus package across the world. but the jobless rate is still increasing. what happen if stimulus stops, and jobless rate still show no sign of recovery.
however no one know whether the reovery is a V shape or W shape.

Why you use the term "MM lee"?
Why not just use Lee Kuan Yew?
I think "MM lee" is a propagandist term used by PAP regime, we shouldn't use propagandist terms that are used by PAP regime.
"MM lee" is like a phantom term, a fictitious person, online nick while Lee Kuan Yew clearly defines a real person.

I propose all those who are going to criticise government etc, just use clear terms like Lee Hsien Loong, Lee Kuan Yew, PAP government, regime etc.

the current rally is simply a cash influx from sovern wealth fund as they are hungry for a upswing. If you are a investor u would know that currently the stock market index is ahead of the actual market by 30 to 40%. Do u honestly think they learned their lesson? -

U may not have enuf to feed yourself, dun talk about your dogs.Anyway, Massive retrenchements does not imply massive jobless, with the IR and other new economy industries coming, there can be also be a massive employments. Therefore, you can see great changes in our economy, from a laze monotonised one to a knowledge/high skills/service orientated economy.
