He simply can't make it. Without the dad, he will not be where he is now. I don't think he has leadership quality.
I think it is a good idea that he quits politics in Singapore.

Despite all the PAP boasts of having all the talent available in Singapore - they could not find a suitable candidate from amongst the talent that they have found and sitting now as Cabinet Ministers.
Can it be believed that they will find a 30 year old candidate to be groomed over the next 10 years to take over the PM's seat ?
This is clearly an election ploy and indication that fresh new faces will be introduced in the next election, and Singaporeans are supposed to give these fresh new faces their vote to ensure that the next PM will be assured.
What is the difference between the 30 year olds picked by the PAP from the 30 year olds presented by the WP, RP, or SDP ?
Can the PAP be infallible in their choice ?
From the lot that were introduced at every election over the last 30 years - so many that the PAP leadership had introduced have now fallen out of sight, and to become CEOs and Directors of the PAP controlled GLCs.
Singaporeans should have more confidence in giving ourselves the opportunity to allow the Alternative Political Parties to show their colors in managing Singapore.
After 52 years of PAP monopoly in deciding everything that affected Singaporeans lives, we should allow ourselves the opportunity of a new approach to show the PAP and LKY that there are capable Singaporeans, when the PAP and LKY claim that there are limited Singapore Political Talents.
Do we need the PAP to raise another PAPPY over the next ten years, to become a dog being wagged by the tail ?

Atobe you said it so well. LKY loves boasting how excellent, how top grade his people are and yet they are not considering anyone from his present team.
To get a person from his 30s and groom him to be the next President could be an advantage for PAP. It is likely they going to make him a puppet PM.
If the present team of PAP members does not have any PM material then why overpay themselves so much in salary. Singaporeans are seriously shortchanged.
