PAP is extorting huge money (Cannot reveal) per resident for the LUP.
My relative is being forced to sell his flat because of this. Poor thing.
WTF. i thought Town Coucsil got reserve. WHY USE TO INVEST instead of helping people to build the LUP for FREE>F PAP. CB. Next election u go hell la.

FYI they never help us do LUP for free...we contribute money to their RESERVES monthy :)

Allo, the pee m, lee hsien loong already said a few times singapore is not a welfare state so this explains.

They use the economic whip.
They scared you finish paying off your HDB. You slack like a cow. Then GDP goes down. They no can claim higher pay because their pay is pegged to GDP.
So they make you pay and pay.. so you work and work.

but PAP never force me to work leh, me everyday shake legs, watch movie, eat good food, go jogging, spa, drive around, shopping...kapo here and there. Where got PAP ask us to work and work, and i pay them very little only, only on utilities bills and property tax. If you dun like LUP, buy private freehold house lah

jo, in my opposite block, one of the units owner refused to say yes to upgrading lift, the MP personally went to look for him and talked to him. This is no democracy. By force!This MP only visits homes of elites and never visit HDB dwellers.

Cannot pay upgrading must surrender house meh? Not sure what is the extent of your upgrading but I believed there are ways to work aorund it. My estate is in the midst of lift upgrading in every floor, cost $2.5k per household. You can pay in full after the upgrading is delcare complete Cannot pay in full then pay in instalments of 1-5 years. If still cannot pay, can see MP to address the problem. If cannot see MP or no time to queue in Meet The People Session, please call 1800 xxxxxxx, then they arrange a house visiting at your conveient time from Town Council. All stated in the upgrading letter. My aunt living in another estate in West side kenna stroke in the midst of upgrading sp she lose her job. 2 children still schooling. Her husband is odd job worker. She then find MP. Then MP say pay only 10% of what she supposed to pay in the first place then balance will be waived. Besides that, MP helped her to expediate the insurance claim also.

The MP will prefer to keep his conscience and allow his boss to lose US$100 Billion to some foreigners' pockets, but will do his best to find extricate the last dollar from a disabled Singaporean to pay for basic infrastructure that was overlooked when the building was first built.

Hey, it is not fair just because u are sick then everyone has to pay for your living expense, right? Remeber the upgrading is beneicial to u leh. now my auntie has a lift right to her doorstep. She has a bigger ktichen blah blah also. Furthermore, the MP knows that 10% is still within the mean of my aunt coz he help her with the insurance payout that are tens of thousands of dollars. The original upgrading cost is abt $8K so 10% is abt $800 only. If MP help u to claim ~$40k (DPS) insurance payout then u only need to deduct $800 for upgrading, is not unreasonable, right? -

I hope u remenber all the taxpayer money and ah gong money portionaly went into town coucil, the money is meant to help us to upgrade our vicinity and maintaine.BUt instead they use the money to invest, NOW IN BANK OF AMERICA pocket.

HDB will reimburse SPR households with the upgrading subsidy if any of the SPR flat owners who has been billed for the upgrading cost obtains Singapore Citizenship within one year from the date of billing of the upgrading cost. The SPR flat owner who obtains the Singapore citizenship must still be the owner of the flat at the time of the reimbursement.

DAP rule Penang very well. I just travel there. I am impressed.
I cannot deny our father LKL did a very good job. He bring our country corruption free, Crime free, education subsidise.
From 1975-2000 - Those were the very good years for Singapore.
I am not against the good system. BUt i feel we need more opposition voices in the parliament to keep PAP on the fence constantly. U agreed.

Think the system is bad? discuss and things will improve. This in itself is a better system than discuss and things don't improve.
everyone like to complain. Want lift here, MRT there. When MAJORITY agrees, than minority complain, and suddenly this become a bad system...

there is no perfect system....
A perfect sytem should go something like this:
Lift upgrading free.
Every household gets $10,000 cash.
The aunty that got stroke should get $100,000.
All loans write off because of LUP.
But some how I get the feeling that the people will still complain. Because the hawker uncle who drives Mercedes also gets $10,000. Not fair.
In the end, I think you are right, there is no perfect system.

Do you know the difference between a "stroke" and "normal sickness" ?The aunt is not SICK......getting a stroke is not a simple sickness, it is a permanent disability that most stroke patient seldom recover and will have almost half of his body immobilised.
What benefit can a stroke patient get from a bigger kitchen when immobilised by a stroke ?
If is convenient for the lift to stop at the doorstep, why was this not provided at the beginning of the HDB planning ?
If the stroke patient is expected even to pay 10 percent of the original amount, how will that amount - ($800) - be replenished when there is no further source of revenue ?
How long do you think that $40K insurance payout will last a stroke patient - when the healthcare system is supposedly subsidised but "out-of-pocket" cash payment will still have to be paid ?
Can the remaining $39,200 insurance payout - (after deducting the $800) - be sufficient for the stroke patient to survive ?
Even Minister Khaw Boon Hwan has said that anyone living up to 85 years of age will need a minimum of $80K in the CPF from the retirement age of 65.
$80K to live on for another 20 years till one is expected to move on at 85 years old - do you think that the remaining $39,200 from the insurance payout is sufficient for the stroke suffering "aunt" to live out her remaining days ?
