MORE than a million workers will remain on just $543.78 a week after a decision made today.
You shot yourself in the foot again by not reading the link and understanding it.
With a minimum wage of AU$543.78 per week (before the increase), means their monthly pay is AU$2,330. How many cleaners, Macdonald's servers and coffee shop assistants you know take home AU$2,330 a month?
FYI, based on AU$543.78 per week at $14.31 an hour, an Australian only works 38 hours week. How many hours week do most Singaporeans work?
You can claim Singapore's GDP per Capita (PPP) is higher than Japan and Australia, but is it a clear indication of living standards, based on the pay our workers are getting?
"The ACTU had argued for a $21 per week rise, which would have lifted the minimum wage to $564.78 a week, while the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry opposed any wage increase.
About 1.3 million Australians, such as cleaners, childcare workers and those in hospitality, work under minimum wage conditions.
Last year low paid workers across Australia received a $21.66 per week pay rise, taking the minimum wage to $543.78 a week.
Pay and classification scales will remain at $14.31 a hour."
Singapore’s Unemployment rate rises to 2.3% in the second quarter after seasonal adjustment amid economic uncertainties. An estimate of 60900 residents were unemployed in the second quarter of this year.
