"Three women were brought to the Singapore General Hospital, each in the same condition and needing a blood transfusion.
The first, a Southeast Asian was given the transfusion but died a few hours later.
The second, a South Asian was also given a transfusion but died a few days later.
The third, an East Asian, was given a transfusion and survived.
That is the X factor in development."

Meaning development brings about better nutrition and subsequently prepares the body to withstand the rigours of a blood transfusion ? Perhaps, i would agree.
However, what is the point of harping on statement made in 1967, when there are decades of empirical evidence to prove or disprove that ?

To a certain extent I agree that development allows for better nutrition and better prepares the body for the rigours of a medical procedure. That would be an X factor in development and at that point of time, the east asians were ahead of their asian peers.As for your statement: "there is an X factor in development among east asians".
I must apologise but i fail to comprehend that so i can't agree or disagree.

Considering the kind of wars and disasters that often afflict East Asia, i'm not really surprised only those with the X factor was able to breed.
