I thank you for this new information, though I have to admit I'm still skeptical. It's not directed to you personally, because one will have to be skeptical to anything posted online. :D

NDP is a day where we citizens celebrate our independence together as one. It is a gala pagent event, only once in a year for us to feel and treasure that moment in time shared across all ages the anniversary day we became free to decide and determine our future as a society, free from colonial discrimination and robbery.
As such, there will be costs involved. Nothing is free. All the committee can do and had done is to ensure that the costs are kept low and contracted out fairly.
Personally, I dont need such reminders, for I love my country - made up by my family, relatives and friends as well as yours. I would prefer it go to feed the old uncles and aunties, even if such monies can only feed them for a day, and I will frown again tomorrow when they go hungry.
But that's me. There are others who shares my society, and should not be deprived of the gala and joyous event, the reminders of our national achievements and milestones, as well as the pomp and pagentry on a national level.
I had not avoided your specific questions. Now, my question to you. Where and how do you intend to ensure social spending costs can be provided without incurring increase in taxes, failing which should you have no answer, would you support your elected representatives' call for more contribution from you towards it?
So what about the PAP flags and its own contingent? Why no Worker's Party or SDP contingent?
I am indeed very proud to be a Singaporean and in fact, very glad and relieved I am. It is not a perfect place but in my course of work and at my own leisure, I do travel a fair bit to Asian countries and a couple of European ones, I still would dare to say, there are not many places in this world who are better than Singapore.
Thanks for your warning anyway

let's just say... I've just been enlightened to this fact, probably because was too busy recently to really stay that long in the forum to realise this earlier... busy cuz too many pple need help...
I try to ignore him if I can.
I don't mind listening to pro government propoganda or even people who keep saying they love and support the sg government - that is their right, but sometimes the "higher than thou, nose up in the air" type language used in the posts makes me wonder wtf he is trying to prove to the rest of us.

Main thing I don't like about Singapore is the weather, so hot!
But then, it's also an advantage as we can go outdoors swimming for most part of the year :D

true true!
Then again, one thing about being Singaporean is our ability to tahan this type of temperature together with the level of humidity
The amzing thing is their ability to tahan a cursed despot and his relatives and cronies losing their hard earned money to foreigners
Sometimes if you are incompetent in Singapore, you are receiving the death penalty. The jobs will be deemed overqualified or underqualified for you. I wonder if the PAP makes all these strict laws, caning and death penalty to segregate the weak from the strong. I wonder if a tycoon will be able to get away with murder or drug trafficking. If you have no job, don't tell me the PAP just stand there and say 'Ha ha very good' and not do anything. Will they say ' You commit theft I shall incarcerate you. No job so what? Good for you, you loser!'

Dun even bother about the language used lor... Sometimes might be because their language not so good, or because on forums don't need proper English, that's why mah...
He might be a nice person in real life.

PAP understand peoples frustration and need to vent it out, in this forum which so far cause no harm whatsoever, they dun mind them selling their wares and prides here, afterall, it is better than they stand at Centre point or taka selling newspapers.
Bingo!
I am suddenly enlightened.
Thanks Angel.
