He sure know how to hog the media limelight and play the leading part when he was the mission leader of the dragon boat team sent to Cambodia in 2007.
After the disastrous accident that saw the drowning of several members of the rowing team - he was silently cute, out of the spotlight and maintain a very low profile.
If was failed leadership at best that the investigating committee refused to pinpoint, when it was subsequently revealed that the rowers decided against instructions to wear life jackets during the competition.
Does the PAP show any concern "about the Singaporean people. esp the poorer ones" ?
If they do, then the poor, the homeless, the aged, the infirmed, and the very sick - would have benefitted immensely if a fraction of the loss US$100 Billion had been spent on them, instead of that entire amount being wasted on foreign enterprise that benefitted the over-paid foreign executives.
The lost money was treated as if it is the PAP private money that allowed them to bask in the spotlight of the Fortune 500 list of the "wealthy" and "powerful" - alongside the few that exist exclusively on the international stage.
These PAP public servants forgot their role to serve as they were blinded by the vanity in the limelight that they found themselves in.

Why compare the poorest Singaporeans to the 3rd World Countries when the Rich in Singapore is comparable to the First World ?

why dun u define poor in singapore? some people are rich, but poor in mentality, poor in understanding life, and poorer in self discipline and motivation. As long as the country provide you jobs, shelter, foods, medical and even a computer to get on. You call that poor??
You go to any government clinic or hospital with a sickness and they dun admit you and cure you just because of you got no money, then you come and talk to me. The PAP motto is to cure first, talk later.
Everyone will be given a shelter, everyone will be given an opportunity to educate, work and build a family here, but if an individual who seek to laze around and dun care even himself/herself, there is nothing much the govt can do, our culture is not like to west 1st world, we give our people the rod to fish and not fish for them.

To prevent being arrested by the British Special Branch, they formed a political party called - Action Party.
The "People" was added later as an after-thought to become People's Action Party.
From the beginning, the "People" was never in the minds of those who formed the Action Party and that has been the hallmark of the PAP in their policies during their 52 years of political domination.
Everyone will be given a shelter, everyone will be given an opportunity to educate, work and build a family here, but if an individual who seek to laze around and dun care even himself/herself, there is nothing much the govt can do, our culture is not like to west 1st world, we give our people the rod to fish and not fish for them.

If Singaporeans are truly educated, the PAP will be worried for the political challenges that they will surely face from a thinking and intelligent population with high standards of expectations.
It is due to the fact that the kind of education that Singaporeans are brought up with in 52 years of PAP domination has resulted in the constant PAP complaints in the lack of talent, the lack of creativity and the lack of entrepreneurialship.

Goh Keng Swee. Hands down.
He was instrumental in developing the SAF from its humble beginnings as a volunteer force to what it is now. A 3G military.
Used to hear from an Army veteran that during the days when he was Defence Minister, he would come down to Army camps to do spot checks.

After leaving Malaysia, Dr Goh Keng Swee was the only one in the PAP Government with some military background, being a corporal in the Singapore Volunteer Corp.He invited The first ‘Mexicans’ of SAF to help in the creation of the SAF in 1966.
He certainly did not visit every SAF Camp, only 1SIR, 20SA, 40SAR and SAFTI - as these units formed the backbone of the SAF then.
The airforce also got his close attention and was then operating the Hawker Hunters at Tengah and Changi Air Bases, and with the Bloodhound I surface to air missiles located at Seletar.
In 1966, the navy was only a two wooden boat affair with the ancient County Class LST and all located at Pulau Brani - which is now merged to Singapore island when it was an island between Singapore main island and Pulau Blankang Mati (now known as Sentosa).
The 30 SCE located at Pulau Blankang Mati surely did not get to see him as the early batches struggled with the building of the ancient Bailey Bridges - experiencing quite a few casualties.
