Not all have a lot of work to do. Many love doing taichi, push work to others, engage in politicking.
and one thing that irks me is just for stationery expenses alone they are allocating $24 k for a year. This is purely waste of $.

Usually, they will cut ministers pay first before cutting civil servants salary to show they are leading the people.
I wonder why this time round, they cut the civil service without mention of their own salaries.

haiz...civil servants are oso human being lah, try not to be too harsh on them. not all are slackers.
Ministers pay scale oso not what we can decide, but luckily they freeze the bonus,otherwise realli demoralising for those like me working in the private sector. ha.

aiya, nowaday, teachers have to tolerate alot of things, cannot beat students, cannot touch them (sue for molest), no more a one way teaching, it goes both way, must answer all their questions (interactive education), attend and prepare lots of meet the parents session, if students result no good, teacher also condemned. Then somemore must teach sex education. Must adapt to the fast changing education system. Not easy lor.Dad told me last time teacher is king and queen, now they are only mentors and guidances. And some smart students have better knowledge than the teachers as they surf the internet, full of information, anytime can out beat a teachers. Teachers also must keep up with the knowledge, otherwise, he/she will be joke of the class.

servants of course suffer lah, be a boss, startup a business, now economy no good, can set up stall and sell cheap nasi lemak or curry puff mah. Sure got business. -

the civil servants are the guys who are making sure your roads are safe, your passports are issued, you traffic lights are working... they are working hacks who are usually overworked to hell and back..

the equation is simple, given a 1k paid and a 10k paid, by having no mid year bonus, let said a month, the 1k paycheck servant will loose 1k only, the 10k paycheck servant will loose 10k.A different of 9k, indeed, they are really leader lead by example. Pity them. Gone are the new Camry, Honda, Lexus, Private house dream and cooking courses.

I figured out already, without paid increase and no bonuses for civil servant, we the public is expecting poor services from the civil servants resulting in disatisfaction and quarrelling scenes at govt counters

you'd be surprised how the opposite happens.. the civil servants continue to do their work as and when required.. but people will come in, the same type of misguided morons hoodwinked by the MIW, to vent...
ever hear about that time when the MIW called gave themselves a huge raise, gave the civil servants about an average of 2% raise, cramed it all together and reported everyone had around a 5% raise? people went out of their way to go abuse the poor clerk who probably had to work a lot of OT (lots which are unreported and unpaid)...
and i can bet this time around, many of these ignorant boors will go out of their way to go to the same overworked clerk and taunt them...

The biggest joke I heard from my civil servant friends is that they heard about the non issuing of bonuses only via the ST or CNA. No letter, email was given to them.
Pity the poor civil servant who has to endure shit from the politicians, scholars who know nothing and boors who only know how to abuse them because they do not have the balls to find the true culprit of all these mayhem and give them a piece of their minds.
