That is half right.Singapore makes lots of money by attracting foreign investment.
Of course wat that botak was saying probably was written by another asshole. He hardly knows wat that hell was implied in the writting anyway.
Our government lay traps to Internal and external funds.Trying their best to try benefit from it.Exploiting Civilian like us is a must.Since no matter how we complain still like that.
When they try to cover their tracks, they do make mistakes of course.Try not to blame them. For ppl in the Finance dept is a bit out right now.
For example they keep giving us info but nvr telling us how they come to that.Which means they bullshiting us lah.

Interestingly enough, the stellar growth in portfolio from S$100 million (1960s) to the current S$127 billion is not entirely due to investment growth, it's more like capital injection from MAS (CPF funds).
Note that on the balance sheet side of CPF we have a loan of S$118 billion to MAS, MAS then loans the money to Temasek and GIC. We can't really determine the exact amount because of secrecy with Temasek's account. Somehow or rather Temasek and MAS has to make goods those interest of CPF members in the future. Then one has to also consider where does the money from over priced HDBs go to?
A lot of people also know that a part of the "good" performance is through capital injection.
Someone from another forum mentioned how it works with a simple example:
Assuming you have an initial amount of $1000 and you invest the whole amount into stocks.
At the end of 1 year, you lost 50% to $500.
At this point, you inject capital into your account with another say $1000.
Your account is now $1500.
Voila, your losses have been reduced to just 33.33% ($500 of $1500).
If you inject even more capital, your losses is minimized even more, so you can safely tell people you lost a small x% of your capital.

company accounting will always look forward than reflecting the loss, in fact nothing is lost when the investment is still holding, most accounting dun reflect the market value and on the investment porfolio it reflects the going concern value and the initial buying price, that is how they get balanced. Until they are sold, the profit and loss will reflect it.

Depends on whether the assets are available for sale or held to maturity right?
Can park unrealised profit or loss into comprehensive income if available for sale I think.

Dun worry, CPA accountant are train to massage figures, even given a full disclosure, you will never really know the real truth. That is why most CFO are powerful figure in the company, sometime more higher than the CEO.
