so, any reactions?
It's an international school. Unless you're related to Lau Lee there's no way a Singaporean can enrol.
actually, i think there are other exceptions too. i THINK.
1) if a parent is not a singaporean.
2) if you've been away for a certain period and it's not a good time to go back to a local school (O levels year and you've been away for 3 years or something...)
but i think you need the gov. approval...

nice try, but facts are facts.
Our own children and young have their own education programme and system and had not been denied opportunities, opportunities which even our neighbouring countries do not offer, and are at times vaunted better than first world nations.
It would be a crime of humanity, if not to children, if we, a civilise society, deny these innocent children of a different culture and education system, opportunities to develope here on our shores, such as summer schools
Studying in the Canadian school is definitely better than local schools.
no reaction though

I got one bangala worker earning about 700 per month ++, free lodging and transport, he told me his son studied in an international high school in Dakka Bangadesh, and now on it way into colleage under the America edu system. I was so proud for him, but he feels strange when he go back to his hometown, kinda of like his son is no more cultivating the traditional banga way of life, and his son even mentioned to him to of migration to USA. Now, he is very worry.
If I not wrong, the innternational bacelurate diploma is highy sought after.

their diploma can also buy, go school sit and plays, find bf and gfs, i also want....
Good lah. Earn more money from the foreigners.
CIS didn't make that rule up. Singaporeans generally cannot attend international schools, but there are some exceptions.
Please don't go blaming them for this. If you want to blame someone, blame the Singaporean government.

Wow, um, I'm sorry you disagree with Western culture. Personally, I disagree with Singaporean culture, but I'm not going around announcing all of your flaws.
And to be fair, Western expats with kids who move to Singapore to work are definitely going to want to preserve the Western culture in their kids, because most foreigners eventually relocate back to where they came from, especially now in this economic climate. When they move back, they want their kids to feel at home. Another reason would be that if their kids graduate from high school in Singapore, they are most likely going to attend an American university.
so many ignorance about international School system in Singapore, and their missions.
There are several aspect of international School system.
First they are set up for children of foreign nationale residing in Singapore. This started back in the 60s. SG govt does not help finance these schools.
It is inbetween diplomatics relation and being a host to foreign MNC in the 60s...70s.
As such these schools can only take in foreigners that is their mission. There are limited vacancy for students as such that is their priority.
The funding of these school various depending on their nations education system.
Summer camp are primary small group in nature and they are short term - 1 month to 6 weeks to allow children to play together made new friends.
If Singaporean want to change that system than ask MOE to change the educational system.

it depend on what education system you came from international bacalurate is not necessary accepted in all US University school system.
What kind of reaction you seek ?
You know there's also Overseas Singapore Schools in other countries. Those cater to Singaporean families working and living outside Singapore.
Soo.. wats the big deal again ?

i believe u are currently living in the US, right?
supposedly there is a new school that was opened in your suburb and right there on the enrollment ads; "for Non-americans only" or "no americans allowed". how would u feel about this?
or perhaps, regardless of wherever one is, singaporeans tend to accept the fate that it is "OK" to accept such issues; the minds have been muddled permanently.

If the school were called "American Chinese School" or "Singapore School in America", I wouldn't be offended. The whole point of an international school is to provide education and community for a foreign group of people; this applies for summer activities as well. It's not like Singaporeans can't find schools to attend because expats are taking over.
Big deal. International schools are for foreign kids who are incapable of tackling our mainstream schools cause its too tough...that and our MM grandson..too dumb to compete with the rest
