Lee Kuan Yew wants to suppress the history of the left-wing movement in Singapore and spread lies against our true political heros.
We can say that our own history is tainted with lies, distortions and kept away from us.
Dude, he was a communist. But he sure was giving LKY a run for his money. Nearly took control of the PAP's CEC if not for the arrests.

Dude, he was a communist.
Chew Bakar says that he was british agent, Lee Kuan Yew and you say that he was communist.
He was in fact one of the leaders of the left wing movement in Singapore during 1950-60s and leader of the left wing Barisan Socalis.

Any proof to link him with known Communists? Everyone arrested during Op Cold Store was a communist? Or have you been believing everything in your secondary school history books?
The Malayan Emergency lasted from 1948 -1960. Op Cold Store was executed in 1963 The so called communist threat is played up by our dear LKY and Tunku to justify the arrests of their political rivals. Even when we break away from Singapore, why were these people not released? And to date, no trial were ever held to prove that the detainees were communist.

Haiz! People still expects the stronger contender to give the weaker challenger some pity.
In the struggle for power, don't expect the other side to allow you some handicap.

One thing is for sure, most literature, both anti- and pro- PAP establish Lim Chin Siong's faction to be pro-Communist. Whether Lim was a Communist or not, that is probably something we won't find out for sure.
I can't say I totally agree with all this liberal rhetoric. When the government fears the people, there can be tyranny of the majority and marginalization of the minority. Leaning to the extremes of liberalism can have negative side effects too.

Did you get the idea that Lim Chin Siong "was a Communist" from listening to the history according to LKY and the PAP Government propaganda that continue to perpetuate it ?
During the 1950s, the British Colonial Government in Singapore - with the advise from the British Internal Security Department - had determined that Lim Chin Siong was NOT a Communist.
The bogey of Lim Chin Siong being a Communist has been LKY's often used method of dealing everyone who pose a political threat to his political legitimacy since the 1950s and the practice continue till this day - (ref: the Catholic Marxist Conspiracy).
LKY's method is getting stale as the archives in the British Colonial Office will reveal more of the real History that debunk his 'ONE Man perception of how Singapore History should be written for Singaporean perception of his legacy'.
If there ever was a Communist in Singapore, it will be LKY - as seen in the way he has shaped the PAP to govern Singapore with all the Stalinist Communist methods to ensure the legitimacy of only a ONE-Party Rule, the use of the Police to prevent the growth of political opposition and public political dissension, the false charges against political opponents that lead to their imprisonment, and the false political education of an equal society that stops at the door of Politics.

Was Lim Chin Siong imprisoned and exiled by the British ?
Here is our own Singapore anti-imperialist, anti-colonial hero, but betrayed by Lee Kuan Yew and imprisoned and exiled by the british:
Lim Chin Siong was first imprisoned under the “Prevention of Public Security Order (PPSO).”. with the arrest carried out by ISD officers following the Hock Lee Bus riots with the support from other industrial strikes and the Chinese Middle School protests.
While Lim Chin Siong's arrest was disguised as a legitimate process of ridding Singapore of trouble-makers, it was nothing more then a political process of shutting honest voices against those who prefer to create political schemes to achieve dubious political ambitions.
Prior to the formation of the Malaysia, the Prime Minister of the Federation of Malaya - Tunku Abdul Rahman - had insisted that those whom he sees as "Communists" in Singapore should be neutralized, and that the British Colonial Government should give up Sabah and Sarawak before agreement will be given to have Singapore as part of the Federation of Malaysia
The Internal Security Council was formed with a majority of its representatives being from the PAP Government, while there was only one British Colonial Government Representative.
The Colonial Archives now reveal that LKY had suggested that the British Colonial Government take full responsibility for the arrest of Lim Chin Siong and other political antagonists - so as to absolve the PAP from being resented by Singaporeans.
It also reveal that the Hock Lee Bus riots was instigated by Chief Minister Lim Yew Hock with the Trade Union activist Lim Chin Siong being largely blamed for the riots and led to the detention of Lim Chin Siong.
Such diabolical political schemes and double dealings are not uncommon that will lead political partnership amongst the most unlikely rivals.
After a short detention from his first arrest in 1956, Lim Chin Siong was released, arrested again prior to the formation of Malaysia, and re-arrested again under Operation Coldstore for the third time in 1961 - after he broke off from the PAP which he and LKY had founded.
Was Lim Chin Siong exiled by the British Colonial Government ?
No.
During his long detention mostly in solitary confinement and taunted with release if he signed a confession - in the same manner as Chia Thye Poh had revealed - Lim then suffered mental depression and negotiated with LKY to be exiled to Britain with his own volunteered commitment never to return to Singapore politics.
Aiya, Uncle, talk so much about history for what??? me failed many times, what chia or lim or song or bei song...was over liao. Now is PAP under LKY the MM of Singapore. Face the facts, WHO DARE WINS.

Good morning bar-girl, did you wake up with a hang-over ?
Have you considered that the reason you have failed in history is the reason that you will remain operating a bar and having problems managing Filipino and China girls ?
Are you certain that 'who dares will win' - or did you not realise that it is "who knows how to cheat will win" ?
Can cheats bring honesty and progress for anyone ?
Do we need any reason to explain how Singaporeans continue to struggle even after 50 years of independence since Self-Government in the mid-1950s ?
Singaporeans may have all the modern perks - have you considered the quality of life for a Singaporean in 2009 is no better in quality then the Singaporean in 1957 ?
We will not expect a reply from you - as this question is too profoundly stupendous for a bar-girl to give any sensible reply.

Woei! aunty, as a citizen, bar gal or no bar gal, i have the right to say my points, the reality is all those past politicians who lost the fight to LKY are too straight and not daring, politics by it name is already dirty, dirtier than my pubs, or can be even dirtier than those mafia. And if you are a politicians, prepare to be dirty, otherwise, you mostly will end up in exile or confine forever. That's is the fact of politics, not only in Singapore, all over the world. For this round the result is PAP 4 - all other oppositions 0, that's the reality of it. Either you live with it or Shut up. It no use digging old grandma story, especially those failed one, it helps nothing to motivate we young voters, it only help us to see how stupid those oppositions were in your heyday. Lesson learned, to be on top in a political arena of an infant state, you need to be cunning, clever, decisive, stand tall and erase your foes completely. I hope the current opposition learned from their ancestor mistakes and life goes on.
And so more, the saddiest thing in opposition and it supporter is that they never care about those lower class people like me, like to condemn us, unlike the skillfulness of PAP who give but take back later, you should learn more from your counterpart.

First you call "Uncle" - then you call "Aunty".
You must still be confused and drunk from last night binge at the Bar.
No one is stopping you from saying anything about politics - but if you cannot appreciate History and treat it like the toilet paper you use to wipe your mouth, you are insulting the blood and pain of those who have contributed to making of our Singapore History that has already been bastardized by LKY and the PAP.
4 against 0 ?
You are drunk.
Can you be a lower class person, who owns and manage a Bar - and who cannot appreciate the fight for a "MINIMUM wage" for Singaporeans ?
Try drinking some ENO or a laxative, and sober up.

While the economy is still very weak and might get worse.... the stock market has rebounded, meaning the economy might get better even if we see sluggish activities.
Singaporeans are known to care only whether they have a job.
If they have a job, they will vote PAP.
Therefore it is useless to crap about the PAP.
True or false?
Well, the fact remains that History has proven that to be true.

You hold on to him like an illusion to convince yourself that we could be better if we had him instead of LKY.
Like i said, you would be here whining about Lim Chin Siong and how much better we would have been under LKY if the opposite happened.
My stock shares are going up & good news of the capture of Mas Selamat prompted me to have some change of scenario & so here I go:

I think you must be surprised that she rises to the occasion & gives you a fairly sensible reply.
The points & ideas are there - practical, realistic & down to earth although simplistic in some ways - the only flaws are the occasional tongue-in-cheek/flippant utterances & her fractured English grammar.
Hope you have a little change of mind re status of bar girl & I also hope my post wont incur the wrath of her critics.

Some people simply love to talk crap, some are so hard to please. ha h aha ha
One thing is for sure, most literature, both anti- and pro- PAP establish Lim Chin Siong's faction to be pro-Communist. Whether Lim was a Communist or not, that is probably something we won't find out for sure.
There is no evidence to show that Lim Chin Siong was communist.
He is a socialist, a left wing politician.
PAP when they talk about the left wing faction inside their party they always use the term "pro-communist" to demonise them when in fact they were acutally the more left wing faction and Lee Kuan Yew was the right wing faction.
But PAP was set up as left wing party, but later Lee Kuan Yew betrayed the original cause and turned right wing and supported british interests, so the left wing split from the PAP.
The story is this you see, there were two important elections in history of Singapore, one was in 1959 and the other in 1963.
When the PAP came to power in 1959, the people voted for them based on their left wing and anti-colonial credentials.
Lee Kuan Yew used the left wing people such as Lim Chin Siong to gather votes.
Lee Kuan Yew himself was not that popular at the time. He was baba, couldn't speak dialect, got ang moh name.
According to declassified documents, Lee Kuan Yew was already scheming inside the party to get rid of Lim Chin Siong and the left wing as they were by then too popular and posed a threat to his power.
Later after Lee Kuan Yew became prime minister in 1959 he began to cooperate more closely with the british and serve their interests. The left wing faction within the PAP did not agree with this and there was a struggle for power, like the AWARE saga.
In 1961, the left wing finally split and Lim Chin Siong set up his own party, the Barisan Socialis. The PAP at the time of this split was actually greatly weakened.
The next general elections was in 1963.
But on Feb 2 1963, the entire left wing movement in Singapore was crippled by the operation cold store, the important memebers were all arrested.
This gave an advantage to Lee Kuan Yew to win in the 1963 GE.
So, we can say that in the history of elections in Singapore, this Lee Kuan Yew always resorted to unfair and dirty tricks to win.
Chin Peng, the secretary general of Malayan Communist Party said that Lim Chin Siong had no contacts with his party.
See:
http://books.google.com/books?id=_aPdeJinXG
You want communist, our ex-President Devan Nair was a communist, he was sent by Chin Peng to penetrate the PAP.
See:
http://books.google.com/books?i
SINGAPORE : Former Singapore President CV Devan Nair has died in Canada. He was 82.
He was the reluctant Singapore President who resigned and then chose to live out his remaining years abroad.
But more than this, Mr Devan Nair was a teacher, a communist, unionist
and ruling party stalwart -- all in a lifetime that was staunchly
dedicated to nation-building in Singapore's early history.
The third President of Singapore, Mr Nair was in office from 1981 to 1985.

You hold on to him like an illusion to convince yourself that we could be better if we had him instead of LKY.
The differences between Lee Kuan Yew rule of Singapore and Lim Chin Siong rule of Singapore is not that difficult to imagine.
One is a baba, cannot speak native dialect, got ang moh name. Due to these insecurities, he later suppressed dialects, closed down chinese schools and imposed alien language, alien culture on the people, content to see dialect die off.
Lim Chin Siong was a native Hokkien, had immense popular support and defended local culture and dialects.
He wouldn't go and suppress dialect.
He wouldn't go and close down chinese schools.
He wouldn't impose alien language, alien culture in the way Lee Kuan Yew did.
In other words, he would had forged a stronger Singaporean identity based on local culture, not alien language and culture.
The nation building process would had strong roots, strong foundations.
Singapore would had developed maybe into a Taiwan-like society, since the Hokkiens were dominant in both countries.
We would had been proud of such a state, of such a society, of such an identity.
But then where would anglo dogs like Lee Kuan Yew be in such a society?
That is a good question.
The two men also discussed the issue of culture, he added.
"I said that using a certain language to create a culture, the culture created can at best be a commercial culture, or technology culture, or we may call it pasar culture.
It has no roots, and identifies itself with a certain material interest. It is the product of expediency.
"It is like duckweed, floating at the harbour. When it absorbs fertilisers, it will flourish very quickly. But once it rains and floods set in, it will perish," he said in an interview conducted in a restaurant in Haadyai, near the Thai-Malaysian border.
"Singapore now is economically advanced, but politically backward ... If they (Mr Lee and PAP) were not there to rule, Singapore's politics could be very active and vibrant," he said in the interview, published in several parts over the past week in the Malaysian newspaper.
It is ironic. Closed down Chinese schools but keeps encourage people to speak Chinese. Ha ha ha ha, senile to the core.
Last time the chinese schools produced and trained people who were real chinese leaders.
They obviously despised the suppression of dialects and the development of Singapore using alien language.
They had to be destroyed.
Now there is no more threat to the baba Lee Kuan Yew.
Everything destroyed already.
Like you got islamic schools who produced people who want to push for Islamic state.
That is a threat to your rule.
So, they must be destroyed.
haha. u're not the fiercest critic la.. you're still pretty anonymous =)
if you want to say fierce, i think dr chee is fierce, he dares to get jailed
