Neutral party here, but this statement is very agreeable. IMO, living in moderation is the best. Still save for your kids and yet still able to enjoy every now and then.. :)

What do you define as wealth ?
To me it's easy access to food, water, electricity and medical attention.
We are nowhere near the poverty rate of actual "peasants". I love how people who has never done a day of actual farmwork constantly comparing themselves to peasants.
While our political system badly needs some reworking for the country to progress better, we still enjoy a great deal more than the majority of our immediate neighbours.
Ya it is safe when you avoid area that isn't safe and not to take your safety for granted.

In terms of industrial safety, we are clearly lacking behind other nations with the casuality rate standing at 4.9. PM Lee gave a challenge to corporate enterprises to reduce this rate by halve by the year 2018. Safest? I think we can improve.
