Yea, subsidized. Market rate subsidy, which DOES NOT cause them a cent.
That's not subsidy to me.
Don't complain lah.
The government is so good to give us a "subsidy" when they sell "market rate" HDB flats for the common people.
So instead of paying 500K for that HDB flat, singaporeans get 10-20K "subsidy" from them to help singaporeans own their flats.
Which country in the world does these kind of nice things for the people?

And if we dun care about our own pockets you want us to beg, most of our parents dun even give us a dime.
Instead of taking care and pity the young, you are destroying the youngs motivation. We the young ones hv tolerated the hardship, swallowed the high cost of living and trying hard to balance our career and being filial piety at home, you better appreciate the youngs ones, otherwise, it going to be hard time ahead.
they are MINISTER
they should be putting Citizen welfare!
not how to earn big bucks for THEIR own POCKETS.

Not sure about what the other bidders bid, but I guess Kopitiam wanted the place a lot, so they put in a high bid.
For such a bid, they must have done their studies, Sengkang is a residential area lacking lots of facilities, unlike the old towns where you get coffeeshops and hawker centres all around.
Great observation. Is the hawker centre the only one in vincinity of SengKang? If so, an oligopoly structure, not free market competition, is in place.
You know Sengkang lah. There are limited facilities.
Therefore, Kopitiam must have done their study to have put such a high bid, coz they want the place very much
I must try their $5 prata kosong, $10 chicken rice and $8 mee siam next time when the kopitiam opens.

a normal couple lets say earn 6k
500k hdb -30k grant
470k loan.
470k/25 years with intreste rate of 3%
they would have to pay 1.6k a month.
lets say they were to eat $3+$1(drinks dollar chicken rice everyday.
$8 X 3 = $24
$24X30 = $720
PUB = $200
other items like toilet paper, condom, kotex, tooth brush
$200
1.6k + 200 + 720 + 200 = 2.7k
just normal living cost you this much.
if really by any way that chicken rice cost $6 per plate as i predicted..
wow...
truly wow

A recent survey showed that Singapore ranks as the world's 10th and Asia's third most expensive city...
Rermember the resilience package and benefits for households for 2009?
It's payback time for the recipients of these handouts!
Another handout coming your way - for the fresh grads.
Expect another round of increase sometime, somewhere
All those comforting words that the reserves are for a rainy day... we now that that yes, it is for a rainy day to support and bailout foreign companies like Merrill Lynch and Citibank.
During the worse recession all living humans below the age of 70 years have ever seen, it is not considered "a rainy day" and price increases for the cursed despot and cronies, are not abnormal!!!!
... I just watch and laugh, having warned everyone in sgforums that the cursed despot is damaging if not destroying the Singapore economy since July 2007.

10th is for now. In a few years time, expect singapore to rise to the no1 spot.
If I am getting the sort of pay as the pap, after upgrading the food centre I don't mind paying $5 for roti prata

I don't think they eat prata. They want something more classy like French cooking class in France.

Correction: we didn’t give our consent in silence. We protested but they went ahead.

We’re the frogs in the pot that are slowly being boiled to death. We can only make a lot of noise in the pot but have no power to get out of it much less to turn off the fire!
that's why i'm asking you. if it has been held, why it still happened?
protest in forums ain't gonna get you anywhere you know?
