At best it is a short term solution... you really think that importing foreigners into this small island to boost the economy is a sustainable option?
At worse, they are competing with and depriving the average Singaporean of higher pay and opportunities.
Another "for self interests" policy of the cursed despot and his running dogs.

Nah, calling someone else a whore is absolutely wrong. That's all there is to it. You can ask anyone, it's absolutely bringing yourself to a low level.
I am not correcting you. I am just telling you it's never appropriate to hit others with really demeaning words.
It's up to you, really, at the end of the day. Otherwise, sgforums will continue to remain at a level where we cannot bring our discussions to a more intellectual level.

Who me??? me antagonize peoples...the God must be crazy. Did u ever ask yourself if your posting is antagonising too?? Grandma use to say, those who said others and point finger are infact saying about themselves and pointing the other fingers to themselves.
Eh? I thought you were the one who said you want to communicate your ideas through to people? That's why you use so extreme remarks coz it would make people think?
So now you are contradicting yourself by saying that there are lots of clones in this forum?
Whether my posting is antagonizing others, is besides the point. The point is, my intention is NOT to antagonize, if my posting does, it's purely unintentional
For your case, your postings are meant to antagonize people.
By the way, I don't necessarily respect old people. A lot of old people are no longer following the times, so their advice are not realistic. Of all people, you, who claim you are a pub owner and seen the ways of the world, bring up the advice of a grandmother.
Either way, I don't want to get into any fights with you, because I don't see the need to bring myself to your level. You only serve to make others dislike and detest you. For me, I only view you with pity, not dislike nor detest.
There's something called moral education, which I feel you should go to. Success is not only based on opening a pub and earning $$$. It's about being a person.
I will stop here and ignore your postings if it doesn't contribute to the thread, because if I continue trying to explain the issue to you, I will be committing what your grandmother said, that I become a person who disrupts discussions, like you.

Rubbish, how you expect this to move to a more intellectual level when you are so fearful of dealing with juvenile who disrupt discussion.
I think it is not right for your to dictate to people what they should say or write to please you. Different people view it differently. Dream on. Sorry I am not here to meet your ideals. I will do it as it deem fit. I do not go round using the same to describe everyone. YOU are too perfectionistic to be pleased. Think you should focus on how to carry on discussion rather than defending the one who disrupts discussion.

By bringing yourself to her level, and calling her a whore, you are also committing the same crime, disrupting discussions. Instead of a proper discussion, it degenerates into a nasty name-calling session.
What is your objective here in the forum? If it's making the govt laugh at us for making this forum a joke and henceforth they do not take us seriously, then you have succeeded in your cause.
There are 2 types of opposition. Those that serve their cause (by ranting without logic, or resorting to nasty remarks), and those that they take seriously.
I am not at the latter type yet, but I sure don't want to be Type 1, serving their cause.

umm this is not a school for you to discipline anyone. I am under no obligation to obey you. It is you who interpret that I am bringing myself to her level not me. Think what you want. YOu are too perfectionistic to please. By your kind of unrealistic expectations, nobody can please you.
Treat her invisible and continue your debates on the thread. All she want is attention. Just ignore her. After a few rounds of empty howlings she will fade away.

I don't need others to please me. I am just telling it as it is. What is unrealistic expectation? Ignoring her is unrealistic? If you know how to respond to such antics, you would know the best way is to just ignore and continue the proper discussion.
When you perform an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, you are bringing yourself to her level.
You don't need me to tell you that. You know it yourself.

WE don't need a pastor in speakers' corner, no need to preach. You seem to nitpick me only, ha ha ha, so that is so noble of you to do so, ha ha ha. If you can't be fair don't talk so much.
Coming back to the topic
this is my take on foreign talent.
The main crux of the issue is that the government has been too lax in considering what constitutes a foreign talent.
Foreign talent system itself is not a problem, it's the implementation.
Instead of setting proper criteria on bringing in talent, the govt is just abusing the word "talent", bringing in all types of people resulting in competition of jobs at all levels.

Preach? No, I don't need to preach to you. Another forum member has just told you the best way is to ignore her.
Right now, you are doing the same thing as her, disrupting discussions. And I am not nitpicking you, it's just because I feel you contribute positive postings, that I feel you should not go to her level.

I agree. Singapore unlike the govt in Switzerland is restricting foreigners setting foot in Switzerland. They only allow foreigners to work as managment staff, nurses to work there.

we agree to disagree, so let's stop here. We go back to the topic, then we don't disrupt the discussion like her.

Yes. So the crux of the matter is in the implementation, not the scheme.
I suspect the govt is using the scheme as a guise to bring in more imported Singaporeans, so that's why the implementation is so laxed.
However, in all fairness, I hear that MOM is now putting more restrictions to companies in hiring foreigners. This is not official, but something they are doing behind the scenes.

ok. That post about the switzerland was told by my ex boss. Don';t know if they still do the same. The ruling party has their own agenda to serve so . . . There is no stopping them from allowing all sorts of FTs here. Hopefully, when the "almighty" has disappeared things will improve. I am not against FTs here but I believe there should be some form of control.
"she" already did that in another thread anyway...

I don't think the govt is trying to bring in imported Singaporeans. They just welcome any foreigners here. I don't know, ours is a govt that refuses to listen to the public, so ......

Hope so. Me as well. But I feel that so long as the same party is overly dominant, things will still remain very much the same even when the 'god' has gone away.
Ultimately, I feel the term "Foreign Talent" has been abused, just like the word "Consultant" has been abused by the indians. They have cheapen it so much that even cleaners are FTs, coffeeshop helpers are FTs, sigh...

Too bad, they have the say, they are the "boss". There may be possible things will remain the same even that old one leaves one day. Remember him saying that he has prepared his team well even in his absence they will still move on. Sigh!
Acutally, all we ask for is the govt to protect our rice bowl. They set quota to employ FTs. My ex colleague used to tell me indian staff cheap cheap, $1 for 2 dozens, ha ha ha. There is this engineering consultant firm almost half of their engineers are from China. The admin staff are mostly china chinese. horrible, how do locals find jobs.

That's why I advocate putting in opposition big enough so that they start to listen to the people. A parliament with 1/3 opposition would be strong enough to set them thinking twice should their policies cause pain to the people.
Have you noticed how we are swarmed with filipinos nowadays? The latest trend is welcoming filipinos to our land.
Almost everywhere I go, there is a filipino *shakes head*
I am not surprised of the news that 5000 jobs at IR will go to filipinos...

Foreign talents are some sort of migrants that they put it in a nice way. Nowadays words of fancy doesn't having much contents to it.
Ultimately Singapore have to wake up and find that this immigrant policy is flawed. Our restrictive resources ain't going to stretch forever. There is that much a smalll country can do ( just like a bullfrog trying to puff up to be a bull, can't be right?)
Result :
1. A busted bullfrog. (The economy now)
2. The bullfrog bigger than a bull. (NOL takeover of APL)
3. The bull steps on the bullfrog. (Try to buy into Citibank and crashed)

what to do, 5000 jobs go to them, ha haha, we are so well taken care of. ha ha ha. YOu know there are people who do not have trust in the opposition they claim opposition not good enough. NOt sure it it is understatement. To me is if we don't give them a chance we will never know.
