Taiwan is about 50 times (to be exact 52 times) bigger than Singapore - learnt this from the tour guide when we went to the country some months back.

1) I didn't say anything that links you with opposition.
2) Do you vote in ppl just to oppose and monitor? Or do you want them in because they have solutions to the problems?
3) So far I only see the problems that she brings up which is already known by all Singaporean. I'm actually more interested in solution. If you only brings out the problems without the solution, why bring it out in the first place :S
**why would you want someone in if he/she cannot solve the problem? sit there shake leg and oppose?
Like what mao mao say last time: Black cat/white cat, the cat that catches the mouse is a good cat.
If the cat can't catch any mouse, will you still want that cat?
The Opposition do not and cannot make policies and execute policies. That is the government's job. What opposition can do is to ensure that the PAP wakes up from its cronyism and nepotism.
Therefore, I will always vote opposition because when people have too much power, they will become corrupt, legally corrupt or otherwise. The only way to check the "legal corruption", the cronyism and the nepotism is to vote in the opposition.
The more the cursed despot persecutes the opposition and the activists, the more the people must vote them in and kick the despot and his cronies out.
The people must not stand for dishonorable characters in power or the dishonorable cahracters will destroy the country in the long run and I have warned about this in sgforums from a long time ago.... if you havn't, click on: 07 Jun `08, 3:55AM

You saw in TV during Parliament session, half of the MPs were sleeping, I think it is better for you to go and sell red bulls and strong coffees near the parliament, most MPs need it to stay up for the boring parliamentary session, business will be good.

Dear Mr. Yap,
So how much opposition do you reckon is enough to do it? If everyone vote for the opposition, wouldn't the opposition now make up the government? And if they do really happen to make up the government, and they don't have any idea of how to deal with problems, how are we going to survive?
Your arguement is based on idealogy.
Isn't PAP a opposition in the past? How did they rise to power? To me, oppositions job is not just to check on the ruling party but to come out with alternate solution that better the current party or to oppose any bad regulations that the ruling party is going to pass.
So far, I've yet to see any of that from the oppositions.

How do other countries do it without the PAP? You really thing that they are gods and Singapore cannot survive without the despots?
It is delusions like these that will destroy the country in the long run, from the cronyism, nepotism that results naturally when despots rule for so long.
You want the opposition to tell you what their plans are, you have to go to their websites. I am not from the opposition as I have stated.
...but even without knowing what the opposition will do, I will still vote them because the future of the country is more important than any one party or opposing party or any one opposition MP
Even if PAP becomes the opposition, they still have a voice!!!
Voting in the opposition does not mean the end of PAP.
If the opposition becomes that government, I will probably vote PAP.

I think you've misunderstood me here. I didn't say that they are gods or anything with the same meaning as to god. In other countries, their opposition can offer solutions and oppose policies that is not beneficial to their ppl. Do Singapore's opposition do that?

I don't understand. Do you vote for opposition just because they are the opposition regardless of what their policies are?

You didn't say it, yes, but the way you put it, it is like Singapore cannot do without them, making them appear to be godlike.
They have proven to be promoting cronyism and nepotism, destroying the country in the process.
The only way to stop them unless you want the country to be totally ruined first, is to vote in the opposition.

There is a difference between voting in the opposition to be opposition and voting the present opposition to be government.

One question - How to go about doing it? You don't control the numbers of vote do you?
How much opposition is enough?
One person one vote, so how many to vote opposition and how many to vote present government? If we vote in the wrong percentage, we might be screwed for 5 years.
vote whoever mr yap opposes! vote whoever a goondu opposes! go for it!

Back to the, "You think that PAP is GOD??!!!"
Why should we be screwed for 5 years?
The civil service will still be there and the PAP will still be there as opposition. The courts will still be there, the police and the military will still be there.
The country will be better because cronyism and nepotism will be gone.

Give us good reason why should we listen to you.

Right when people prove beyond a resonable doubt that you are given to delusion imaginings, you retaliate by name calling.

Dear Mr. Yap,
1) This is what you think not what I think. Please don't put words into my mouth. It has never been stated in any of my post that I think they are Gods or whatsoever with the same meaning to God.
2) GE is once every 5 years. If the opposition is the government and they're not able to come out with good policies or if there's major happening around the region, I don't see the reasons why we can't be screwed?
Like what you said earlier on: "The Opposition do not and cannot make policies and execute policies. That is the government's job."
3) Back to the question, "How much opposition is enough??" & "How to go about doing it???"

Like I said, you keep implying that Singapore cannot survive without them, and why would you imply that if you do not think that they have some sort of super-natural powers, gods?
What major happenings around the region? You have to be specific and tell us why the civil service, the foreign service, the military, would not be able to handle that.
Right now there are two opposition MPs and you are thinking of zero to 100% overnight just because you vote the opposition. That is delusional, don't you think?

Foreign diplomacy. Where do you think sg get it's food source? Why is it that you think sg unemployment rate is not as high as regional?
Thinking that they are capable to a certain extend do not make me think that they are god. Though I still can't come to term with their gross payroll.
You're assuming that i'm thinking of 0%-100% turn over which is not what I'm thinking. I'm only asking how many opposition is enough? and how to go about doing it? Coz we don't control the votes.

If think that they are only "capable to a certain extend " and you "do not make me think that they are god", then why such pessimism that Singapore cannot survive without them? They are not gods, what they do, many others can.
Surely you don't think that all the civil servants in the foreign and the administrative services are idiots do you?
You don't think that the generals in the military and the judges in the courts are idiots, do you?
How many opposition MPs in parliament is enough? I would say at least 40%
In life we need to strive for balance in almost everything we do.
