Just off the top of my head, i find it very easy for scholarly articles and research to take place in Singapore because so very few people have done it. I have seen so many relatively simple research thesis on climate change and environmentalism in Singapore which seems to easy, yet was never undertaken by local scholars, yet foreign talent lecturers come in and easily make a name for themselves with relatively little effort, compared to "older" research done in Europe or America.
ANYWAY. Moving on, I was wondering if there were or are any widespread polls in Singapore that question every Singaporean's satisfaction with the state of their democracy, government, lifestyle and ruling parties etc. We are not talking about an official electoral poll. We are talking about very low-key question and answer response on paper with no identifications, and possibly a $2 fee for participation since we are into money.
The reason i ask this, is because people you meet in Singapore have a very nuanced expression of politics here which they are afraid of airing in public via television of simply speaking out in a public speaking area. Thus I believe there is a need for a wide-based poll for research purposes.
What sort of questions should be in? I'm thinking the 1st one ought to be
"Are you satisfied with democracy in your country?"
Simple yes or no questions.
Thoughts anyone?
D) none of the above
I can already predict who will answer your question and what answers they will give
ximisai. need to pay?

My bad. What i meant was they complete the poll in exchange for $2, i wanted to use the word bonus but i figured that sounded cheezy. I should have wrote incentive. My bad.
$2 might be cheaper rather than what i thought of earlier, which was invited hordes of Singaporeans into the NUS halls filled with paper and pens, and a corner wth refreshments which they can frequent after completing the poll. We would need them to scan their IC before letting them in just to make sure we don't double count polls.
Know the market price of paid survey.
$2? try again.
must have at least a hi-tea reception
serve some dim sum, and maybe some caviar, some blue mountain coffee or wine 这一类的
then ppl would be more wu sim to give their most honest opinions
and you need to create a foam party at sentosa for us, the Y ones, we sure to come...i can also set up my bar there.
Aiyoh you do poll or no poll you still can't do anything about the current political situation. Plenty of Singaporeans will say "I hate PAP to the core". Bottomline, they still vote for PAP. This is Singapore, that is the way

no, my Uncle draw a mickey mouse on the voting paper, he didn't cross or tick PAP, and he told me some draw courtesy face, some dog face...etc etc...so funny.
There is a need for such research. I can't base research on SG Forums or untelevized interviews of random Singaporeans. Polls are a good way to go.
Polls is not a problem, i can get my sexy gals to do it, sure get the polls, the main problem, is how you interpret the statistic of the polls gathered, if you are not neutral in mind, forget it.
I hope the govt and its citizens see the importance of growing and maturing of our society by allowing greater press freedom.
Not just to develop our people's core critical thinking skills but, more importantly, to enpower our people with the right mindset.
To cope with a fast changing world which solution is no more topdown-centric but also grassroot-centric.

The govt fully support more freedom of speech and press, however the topdown centric is still critical as freedom and grassroot centric is still not conducive for our spoonfeeding society, in reverse it may cause more detrimental effect on our fragile society.
The case of grassroot failing to protect MPs in the public shown that topdown centric is still a must, govt simply cannot allow grassroot the freedom to organise and make decision themselves in the expense of MP getting burnt.
Spokewoman for PAP

You don't suka suka take over Lim Kwee Hua role ......okie?
Poll for what?
Despots will always be despots.
Greedy people will always be greedy.
Dishonorable people will always be dishonorable.
Cronyism and nepotism will always destroy the country.
The cursed senile despot with a zombie wife, will always be cursed for he is unlikely to become honorable.
yah, like urself too.

You have a point here. These are hypocrites. I would rather people be honest about their choice.
At least Andrew is clear and not a hypocrite. He makes his stand very firm unlike some people who are so fickle like prata, flip here flip there.
I am open to change but it is just that I do not believe for one moment that the cursed despot can become a blessed honorable man and his cronies all become honorable people. He hand picked them, and he will only pick running dogs.
Ha ha ha.

yes i can see that he is very "clear", he likes to stir shit and encourage people to rise up against pap and even when asked about his own actions, he openly admits he's too "polite" to say his own thoughts out in public
but are you sure about the hypocrite part?

thats assuming you're polling the right amount of people from different walks of life.
