'We're not good enough'. That's why they came up with SPURS, remember?
Saw so many articles on SPURS & all that skills redevelopment. 'We need to upgrade our skills to stay employable'. & they feature a few participants who successfully got a job after having gone through those courses.
I wonder what's the % actually of those who got jobs within a few months of successfully completing the course. Employers don't just look at your qualifications; they'll look at your experience, age, race, gender, religion etc etc..AND how much you're expecting (salary).
Seems too simplistic to me that you'll have a much easier time clinching a job if you just sign up for their courses. Not to forget must interview you & for some courses, must be below 30 yrs old to get their subsidy! & I would think that it's those above 30 who need more help!

Paraguay: President Lugo to Forgo Salary
Fernando Lugo's presidency started with an announcement that he would forgo his monthly salary. “I don't need that salary, which belongs to the poor,” said Lugo.
Sure he Forgo his salary, only US$1200 per month, I also dun mind forgo it to show my patriotic for the country given the undeclare revenue collected under the table, it should be supersede this mere $1200 by a few thousands times, if not millions times.
Understand!

The Bolivian new left-wing President, Evo Morales, has cut his salary by more than a half to a little over $1,800 (£1,012) per month.
The decision means that the salaries of all Bolivian public sector employees will be reviewed, as no official can earn more than the president.
Mr Morales said the money saved would be used to increase the numbers of doctors and teachers...
LKY and LHL also dun mind giving $2000 per month to help to increase nos of foreign talents and Singapore table cleaners.

And SPURs is only solely mend for Singaporeans only, the govt is pouring billions into it, those who are retrenched get free courses, those who are still working can get a very heavy subsidize, and even employers sending employees, SPUR will pay neary 80% or 90% of the payroll. Not only sg workers are there, so are the PMET, they are also suffering, PMET are executives, these group, especially middle class is also one of the hardest hit people, cos their committment to house and other luxury items during the good Ol day is not paying dividend but instead having to keep fulfulling the installment, eg, u bought a millions dollars apartment thru loan a year ago, and now you got no job...God bless you.
angel is correct, we should scrap CPIB and anti-corruption laws, pay politicians and civil servants their annual potential corruption salaries and bonuses.

Exactly, we are indeed paying them to evade corruption, and CPIB or anti-laws is usually mend for private sector, laws are set from norm and usual, so that any unusal happen, the laws move in, and when the laws that move in do not take action, corruption take place.
CPIB is controlled by Lee Hsien Loong.
Will it move against him?
angel,
You are right on the dot again! CPIB and anti-corruption laws are meant for private sector, if we start paying the private sector their annual potential corruption salaries and bonuses, we won't need CPIB and anti-corruption laws ever again.
Singapore will be No.1 in the world with zero corruption.

not only CPIB, ERP, HDB, CID, IMH, IRA, LTA, MAS, PSA, SIA, SMRT, etc etc all control by LEE HL.
So by moving against him, I will be moving against the whole damn Singapore public Authority Board. Look Uncle, I am running a sleazy pub here, dun make my life miserable, can hold hands with LHL me very happy liao. Better still, if LKY can come my Pub, all drinks on the house.

Who?
what is the production rate in a factory right now?
please highlight the company and production figures that had dropped befor and after.
eg) Gonzo manufacturing limited
production in 2007 is 10,000 products in the month of january
production in 2009 is 5000 products in month of january
the above will tell if there is any changes in the recession
It's now going to be end of April 2009, they still haven't updated the unemployment figure in singstat, it's like forever stuck in Dec 2008.

If what you say is true and abnormal.... the civil service, the people should ask, is serving the people or serving the despots.
If that is true and they are hiding/delaying the figures (maybe massage it?) then people better take my advice and HOARD their money!!!!
