The Verification Team in the case of the death of David Widjaja, an Indonesian undergraduate who died in Nanyang Technology University (NTU) of Singapore has established that David had been killed, rather than committed suicide.
The leader of the Verification Team, Iwan Piliang, announced this at the press conference held at Restoran Munik, Jl Matraman Raya, Jakarta Timur, on Monday (13 April 2009). David’s father, Hartono Widjaja, and his wife was present, along with his brother William Hartono.
According to Iwan, the team has done a reconstruction of the events surrounding David’s death. From the reconstruction, the team is confident that David’s death was not due to suicide as alleged by NTU. The autopsy that David’s family received indicated 36 gaping wounds, of which 14 were from stab wounds.
“In general, the injury is at the hands. The rest were bruises, including the neck region and internally,” Iwan explained.
The team, along with the family and correspondent, have also visited Singapore. The team had wanted to meet with the NTU officials, but were not entertained. A similar request to meet Professor Chan Kap
Luck, who was reported to have been wounded by David before he died, was also declined.
Meanwhile, the leader of Komnas Anak, Seto Mulyadi, and Bung Tomo of Bambang Sulistomo also voiced their support for a thorough investigation to provide satisfactory closure to this case. According
to Seto Mulyadi, David was an Indonesian asset whose efforts in winning the Mathematics Olympiad should be appreciated by the government.
“The Education and National Ministers should have given the family legal help, including financing for a lawyer. But nobody has bothered so far; POLRI (Indonesian Police), Depdiknas (Education Ministry) and
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono should be actively involved and aiding the family, since it concerns the sovereignty of the country,” he added.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono should be actively involved and aiding the family, since it concerns the sovereignty of the country o.O LOL.
It's now crystal clear:
Never ever send your children to study in Singapore.
Gary: He said to me at the lift lobby 90% of the exact words - ”Mr Tan,if you walk out of here tomorrow, you might get killed. You might meet with a mysterious accident, you might disappear and nobody will know what happened to you! Mr Tan, some things and people in this country you cannot offend! Some people are above all things! You better make sure you know this! Mr Tan,we can arrange for things to happen to you.You understand or not!”
you are degrading singapore leh!

NTU has become corrupted and dangerous. Wooo.
Had Indonesian education regressed so much that their 'scientist' or 'forensic specialists' cannot differentiate between 'stab' wounds and cuts sustained along the path of the fall as well caused by protuding objects on the ground?
It is most shameless how such 'men of science' goes about publishing their report to their president. If this is not mischief, then i don't know what else it is.
KNS, not only foreign workers are giving our uncles and aunties problem, even foreign students and foreign talents is also giving our country problem, c'mon men, sack the bloody prof, since he is causing so much trouble, we aint going to pay tax just to support a police force and court to deal with such unwanted cases.
To release such a statement even before the final conclusions of the investigation are revealed is damning. No matter what the findings are, it will certainly undercut the final conclusions. If the Singapore Police findings are opposite to what this 'verification team' has found, then there will forever be a shadow cast on this case in support of whatever theories that are circulating out there, regardless of its authenticity.
There is a lot of raw emotions involved, and the friends and family of the deceased will want to memorialize David as best as they can, which is what any of us as humans will do for someone close to us.

And worst, the autopsy report was first sent to NTU for vetting and not to the parents at all. Also when the family wanted to have a take with the professor who was stabbed to get a clearer picture of the scene, the professor refused to see them, however in earlier report, he told the news that he is more than willing to talk to the death student's parents.

Let us not jump to any conclusions but await the report from the court. Our country is not Indonesia, whereby laws are determined by favouritism and cronyism. Singapore is ruled by law, agreed and accepted by our society.
It is the professor's choice to see or not to see the attempted murderer's parents, and not a legal right. That right can be claimed in a court in the presence of lawyers and police protection for our citizen victim.
Anyone can simply tell stories to sensationalised dramas to live up their fantazies or bored lives without a care to the bigger society at large. Fools who simply lapped up such stories are just what they deserve to be - fools.
Umm angel has a quick solution for everything
I guess like that maybe have to get a neutral third party examiner. But whichever side the results support, the opposing side always shout liar! Conspiracy theories, they're all around us and nobody, and I mean nobody really knows the real truth.
I think this stuff happened before... i think is filipino maid...
A maid died in Singapore and the filipino's coroner was again very sure that she suffered abuse.
Than call in neutral party from US(not the country, just some experts from US) to clarify the finding.
Turns out that the coroners who claimed the maid was abused did not cover the case properly, leading to national disgrace, and the report was overturned..
Think will do the same thing again bah. But seriously, who will want to kill a random student?
There are already people out there who claims that David is "an asset" to their country, that he was killed because he invented some groundbreaking state of the art technology. I mean, look, as absurd as it sounds, when the facts are unclear, people will seek to put together the pieces and often based upon their own perceive logic of things.

These allegations are actually getting interesting. I don't foresee SG-IND bilateral relations being strained. I doubt Indonesian authorities will get much involved.
Poor guy comes to Singapore at age 17 to study. Probably couldn't handle it all. In contrast, all our male citizens start at age 21. While our female undergrads are at least 19 years old when they matriculate.

The prof claimed that he is willing to meet the dead student's parents n how did the parents came to know of the prof's address? If this continued, it will affect the
reputation of the university esp it need Indonesian n Malaysian students to study here.

i don't think there is a need for foreign students to study here... they can come, they are welcomed, but not to the extent of need.
stuff happens, and it is up to the university how they are going to handle it.

It has been a month since the stabbing incident happened, furthermore the autopsy report if not wrong came from this country indicated there were thirty-six wounds on
the pepetrator's body, where does it come from? It cannot b self-inflicted.

Who give fuck shit about SEA students . They think they are better than Sinkaporeans? The Indons bought their own CSI team , thinking that they can change the outcome but too bad. David Widjaja JUMPED!

why you ask me? I didn't do the autopsy, how i know it is self-inflicted or not?
Since i didn't do the autopsy, i can't tell you that YES, the wounds are self inflicted.
I also did not do the investigations, so i can't tell you YES, the stab wounds are not deep enough to kill, hence, there must be someone stabbing him 36 times.
I also don't have info on possible motives, such as hatred, money, desperation of any possible suspect. so i can't tell you YES, the prof killed him to get his money/secret project.
but i believed you did the autopsy, since you are very sure that the wounds cannot be self-inflicted.

If I am not wrong, SEA students were given scholarship n these scholarships are not easy to get, furthermore with the lack of talent in this country, it is not surprising
that scholarship were given to bright students of neighbouring countries. Mayb u might not b happy over scholarship given to the sudents of neighbouring countries, ur statement is an indication of jealousy.
