Pl think very carefully before u write.
Right after Najib becomes PM,the MY official agency carry report
about the requests from JB business etc to rebuild the crooked bridge.
I think dunt MY shall waste time on this project lah.
The Malaysia AGC,not Singapore AGC,already advised the MY Cabinet
that under the 1961 Water Agreement etc,MY are not allowed to
disturb the Singapore water pipes on Malaysia soil.
Singapore,on the other hand, has warned that there is ''serious implication''
should MY go ahead with the crooked bridge project which will require
demolition or shifting of SG water pipe lines on MY soil.
When a diplomat says ''serious implication'',it will be damn serious.
So,we can say it will be very damn serious when it was said by
Foreign Minister of SG in Parliment.
I think the then outgoing PM paved the way for re--start of the project.
''Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi cancelled the so-called crooked bridge project between Johor and Singapore in 2006 because of the huge federal budget deficit then.''read below for link.
In fact, the legal implications of demolishing the water pipes lines
is the main reason.
1.Malaysia understand she shall not go aheah with the project

Press Statement On Declassified Documents Pertaining To The Crooked Bridge
General
July 14, 2006 16:40 PM
KUALA
LUMPUR, July 14 (Bernama) -- Following is the full statement from the
Prime Minister's Department on the declassified documents pertaining to
the crooked bridge:
PRESS STATEMENT ON DECLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS PERTAINING TO THE CROOKED BRIDGE''
''3. Comprehensive advice by the (lion note--Malaysia's)Attorney General's Chambers showed that
Malaysia should not proceed to build a bridge unilaterally without
complying with our legal obligations. In particular, Malaysia had
obligations under the Johor-Singapore water agreements 1961 and 1962,
the Wayleave Agreements and the Separation Agreement 1965.
The main obstacle was that the construction of the crooked bridge
will involve the demolition of the Malaysian side of the Johor
Causeway. The said demolition would directly affect the water pipeline
located inside the Johor Causeway and water pipelines straddling the
Johor Causeway in which the ownership thereof vests with the Public
Utilities Board of Singapore. The Attorney General's Chambers also
stated that under the 1961 and 1962 Johor-Singapore Water Agreements,
"Malaysia is required to obtain approval of PUB in relation to the
alteration of water pipelines as a result of the construction of a full
straight bridge or a scenic half bridge."''
2.SG serious message
''We have explained to Malaysia the serious implications of a unilateral move by Malaysia to demolish its side of the causeway and replace it by a crooked bridge, however scenic.''

3.Recent reports of the bridge

''Construction Of Crooked Bridge Meets People's Aspiration
JOHOR BAHARU, April 14 (Bernama) -- The revival of the
crooked bridge project across the Johor Straits under the new
leadership of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak meets the aspiration of the
Johor people.
Johor Umno Youth information chief Khalid Mohamad said all the
people of Johor, regardless of religious belief and race, wanted the
government to review the decision made in 2006 to cancel the
construction of the crooked bridge.
"The people of Johor are placing high hopes on the Prime Minister
to review the decision to cancel the crooked bridge project across the
Johor Straits.
"The effects from the construction of the crooked bridge will be
most positive to the Johor economy. We urge the government to
reconsider (the cancellation) as soon as possible," said Khalid who is
also the Johor Baharu Umno Youth chief, at a media conference, here
today.
He said although the country was facing the global economic
slowdown, the construction of the crooked bridge would stimulate the
local economy and bring it out of the recession.
"It (the construction of the bridge) is a long-term investment and
no one can deny the positive effects arising from the construction of
the bridge to the Johor economy and in creating various economic
opportunities," he said.
On the possibility of Singapore protesting the revival of the
project, he said both countries were capable of avoiding the issue from
being made a collateral in resolving outstanding problems.
Yesterday, the public including associations and the Johor Chinese
and Indian Chambers of Commerce expressed confidence that the
cancellation of the crooked bridge project would be reviewed by Najib's
administration.

''PUTRAJAYA, April 1 – Outgoing Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi cancelled the so-called crooked bridge project between Johor and Singapore in 2006 because of the huge federal budget deficit then.
He told media editors yesterday that his Cabinet ministers were puzzled by former premier Mahathir Mohamad’s insistence on going ahead with the project.
Datuk Seri Abdullah was asked whether his ties with Tun Dr Mahathir would have been better if the Malaysian government had not scrapped the plans to build the bridge to replace the Johor Causeway.''

Sabre rattling to unite a nation to a failed political party. What else is new? That had always been how they behave as failures to their own society, who hopefully had grown up by now and not be deluded.
Best the political dogs dont go too far. We Singapore are a soveriegn state and not some little brother, never ever had been, for no big brother had ever kick his own little brother out in the hope he will starve to death.
