The USA is our traditional protector.
I think that role is played by Britain, not USA.
The Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA) are a series of defence relationships established by bilateral agreements between the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and Singapore signed in 1971, whereby the five states will consult each other in the event of external aggression or threat of attack against Malaysia or Singapore.

The UK and the west european armies are a shadow of their colonization days. BBC reported that the UK army is less than 100k trained men in 2006 (probably the entire UK armed forces is abt 200k regulars as reported by Wikipedia). Our former defence minister reported that SAF has total strength of 300+ k men (standing army + reservist).

Malaysia's armed forces have about 100k active strength.

Indonesia's armed forces (Tentara Nasional Indonesia, or TNI) total approximately 350,000 members.

The UK/European armies are very weak nowadays. That's why NATO is lead by America, and that's also why the UK/European armies have never fought any major battles w/o the leadership of the USA (for the last 2 decades?).

Coz China will be increasingly more influential in East Asia. USA's influence is waning.

DPRK is 1 to 1.5 million leh... Ok granted they have lousy weapons from Soviet times, but with that number... A lot of damage can be done if they go kamikaze on the ROKoreans...
I thought he anti-anglo-ish?
I think he can't wait to be reborn as proper anglo.
The greatest tragedy of Singapore is that an anglo dog instead of local majority hokkien was able to capture power and turn the country into a westernised cultureless freak.

Don't they do that all the time???
Yah, the Europeans have 50K of Terminators to destroy a million man strong army....
Singapore has 300K of Zergs to infest the enemy....
USA has numerous Carriers and dragoons to slaughter anyone in their path...
Who wins?
Seriously.. china coulda send a battalion of their spitting chinese to drown that Kimmy ill, and take that shortie communist embarrassment outa their chinese ass once and for all.
I really wonder why they keep deelee dalleeeing.. get it done already.
Having North Korea constantly throwing fits and childish tantrums.. surely.. it can't be good for the Chinese economic stability.
That piece of land coulda easily blend into china and they get to reap the benefits of those billions tons of top grade crude underneath NK soil.
Get moving china... before the ang mohs start their moves.
Get moving china... before the ang mohs start their moves.
China is not an aggressor state, unlike USA and others.
DPRK also has good relations with China.
And last but not least, DPRK creates headaches for USA.
Now you don't seriously believe that China is unhappy about that now would you?
More headaches for USA means USA needs China's help to influence DPRK behaviour, which means that USA must take note of China's interests in other areas.
Also, if USA makes a move against Iran, DPRK can make another move, distract a bit, divert a bit.
Want to harass chinese ships, want to expand NATO, want to sells arms to Taiwan, DPRK can divert a bit...
February 9, 2005
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said on Wednesday that Iran must live up to its international obligations to halt its nuclear program or "the next steps are in the offing."
"And I think everybody understands what the 'next steps' mean," Rice told reporters after a meeting with NATO foreign ministers and European Union officials.
"It's obvious that if Iran cannot be brought to live up to its international obligations that, in fact, the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) statutes would suggest that Iran has to be referred to the U.N. Security Council," she said.
Iran has refused to halt its nuclear program, saying it is only intended for peaceful energy production...

And the next day:
North Korea announced Thursday, February 10 2005, for the first time it possesses nuclear weapons to protect itself against an increasingly hostile United States and suspended participation in the six-way talks on dismantling its nuclear program.
http://www.turks.us/article.php
TONY JONES: Well, North Korea's shock announcement has added an unwelcome complication to Washington's campaign to put pressure on another outpost of tyranny to abandon its nuclear plans. The White House has toughened its warning over Iran's weapons program, leaving open the threat of international sanctions and military force. The threats come as Europe and Iran resume talks over Tehran's nuclear plans. Washington wants to ensure that the message Europe sends is as tough as possible. Michael Carey reports...

Must distract a bit, divert a bit you know.
